What is the purpose of the "high idle switch" and would you get the option if you lived in Texas?

High idle is for diesels... In Texas you will not need it but anyway what it does when you turn high idle on it makes the truck idle a little bit faster when it's cold to help it warm up faster in climates below 32 degrees

Also if you are running a big load like a plow or winches.

If looking to warm up the engine quicker when below 32F, another feature called 'Elevated Idle'. is more effective. Elevated idle is standard equipment on ALL Duramax trucks.

High idle is intended for applications where the truck may be powering accessories or PTO equipment while stationary.

High is software, can be added later, and is activated by the cruise control buttons.
