It's not the size of the lift that causes decreased gas mileage. It's the size and weight of 35" tires.

It's both... Tires probably more so but the bigger windwall you create, the more it's gonna cause drag.

Agreed, but the tires are by far the main cause. My 08 sierra had 12 inches of lift.

 

Anyways, truck looks good OP. Now you need a tune.

I was getting 18-16. Now I'm getting 16-14. I'm not sure if that is accurate because the MPH hour is off and I'm not sure if the gas mileage is calculated on the console from the miles it thinks I'm going? I looked into the HyperTech that says it recal's but I never did that so I'm not sure if I can find a place to do it?

 

Does anyone know if this is straight forward?

The Hypertech is pretty straight forward. I have been using one that the dealership gave me when I bought the truck. Just plug it in and answer a couple questions on tire size and gear ratio and you are done. Takes about 5 minutes.

Quick question on the tire speedo issue.. I know if you tune there can be warranty issues, as the "number" changes.. What about just changing the speedo? Does that pose the same issues? Truck looks great by the way.

I'm feeling like that front air dam is distracting slightly from the look. I doubt it's assisting with gas mileage anymore. Great looking rig!

      Acceptably cheap tires?

      Looking at cheap tires for this project '95 Blazer. I'm seeing all sorts of brands I don't recognize. 235/75/15 are the size I'm after.   "Dirt cheap" (<$100/each) Starfire Solarus (AS or AT) Rocky Mountain HT2  Mohave HT Westlake SU318 H/T Laufenn G FIT Entry Level AS (yes, Entry Level is the name of the brand!)   "Somewhat cheap" (<$150/each but >$100) Kumho Solus TA51a Ironman (Les Schwab) Cooper Discoverer RT AT Hankook Kinergy ST (H735) Milestar Patagonia H/T Toyo Extensa AS II   The only one that stands out is the Cooper Discoverer in looks and actual brand recognition for me. $120/each. The buyer for this truck will probably want a visual look of not a completely smooth car/highway tire and this one has slightly blockier tread.   Starfire is supposedly a sub-brand of Cooper. Mohave is a house brand of Discount Tire. The spelling bugs me, I've always known it as Mojave. Kumho, the name, still makes me giggle.   If I was selling it tomorrow, I'd probably go with anything in the Dirt Cheap category. But I may drive this around through the fall and my mind would be ruined knowing I'm rolling around on "Laufenn" or "Entry Level" tires, name alone.   In a world where *most* tires are now offshore-produced, is one low-buck tire much better than another?

      Most vehicles have engine covers. The cooling fan’s are below the cover. That probably doesn’t help. I cleaned collector car engines. The rest not so much since the last one protested by missing for a few days drying out.

      Point of clarification on this graph. It is the life of the FLUID not the Transmission being graphed. Compare to his comments below the graph. Get it to the top of the graph and you can kill one in an afternoon.
