Mad Max Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Mine did not come with it so the front seat overhead console does not have the switch either. But I'm wondering what the chances are that the wires and connector are there and available/unused so if I procure the proper overhead switch/panel and sliding glass/actuator I could just plug them in? I have had good luck in the past with adding options by finding factory plugs for options that were just never installed, installing them and just pluging them in
chuckl1218 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I think somone tried this after GM started building the resr slider again, but can't find it on the forum. They were not successful as I recall, but I can't remember why. I think it is very involved to install the split window and all of the hardware that goes in behind the rear seat. Mine has it and was repaired under the bulletin. Good luck.
Stex Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 And cost prohibitive...if you could do it...GM offers no kit for such. May check after market...but will not look stock
Mad Max Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Didn't want one when I got it but now I realize how far a reach it would be from the front seat. Oh well. Maybe I'll get it from a junk yard truck sometime down the road. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
MikeNH Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 My 2011 doesn't have it nor did my 2003. Never missed it and never used it on my Tacoma that did. Can't stand wind noise so I just assume use the AC.
TJay74 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 From what the Chief Engineer of the entire GM truck division told me, it will be very expensive as in $2000 at minimum. If your truck is one of the higher end trucks the plugs may be in the harness. There will be a plug behind the rear seat for the window and one in the overhead console.

If anyone has a picture of the plug/location behind the rear seat please post it. It's a lot easier to check that first than it is the overhead console.

It's a lot easier to check that first than it is the overhead console. It is a real pita to get to the slider goodies behind the rear seat. Seat must come out them all the trim. took a shop guy that had done many about 1hr + to remove stuff to get to the heart of it and same going back. Scratched tint with all the trim in and out crap. I use mine all the time to vent the truck, even with heater/air on. Not much noise and takes away the booming when the back to windows are let down a bit. Also use it to back up at night due to limo tint on rear glass. That said, if it was not there and knowing what I know about the amount of work and $$s, I would not try to add on.
Mad Max Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Thanks for the good advise. It is extremely unlikely I'd do it then. It is probably likely that someone makes or will make a manual unit anyway.
TJay74 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I would love to do mine, don't get me wrong. Just not sure if the hassle is worth it.
Spurshot Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I had one on one of my old trucks along with a boot on the topper. Never opened it.

Well looks like Laurence is working on one. This would be your best bet if they get done..??? http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/cr-laurence-epc814s/?utm_source=googlepepla&utm_medium=adword&gclid=COGGtIHDhL4CFenm7AodVGkA0w
