Need Price Negotiation Advice

Honestly I haven't been to every dealer. But the ones I've dealt with haven't been very customer service oriented.

The one that has good customer service is a "one simple price" dealer similar to carmax and the prices are anywhere from 1000-2000 more expensive. One dealer has reasonable customer service and ok prices but every single truck on the lot has this dealer add on for 1K for just pin striping and some kind paint and interior protection package.

The other one that has good deals on the Texas editions won't budge on price for the Allstar Edition which I want, and I've spoken to in person and emailed two of their salesman who refuse to email me back info I've requested.

And none of them are within 2.5K of the Houston price tag. Really Houston is only a three hour drive and I'd love the drive home. So it's not the travel.

The main hang up for me is having to dip into savings to do a deal now. If I wait a year, I can pay off my wifes Tahoe when I get my tax refund, and just get a new loan for my truck without having to dip into savings at all. Plus I'm expecting to have more monthly income in the next 3-4 months.

I really should just wait. But I'm sick of my old ride and getting impatient. These 10K off MSRP deals aren't helping.

Did you try Cavender in Boerne? That's who we dealt with when we lived in San Antonio.

Haven't been out there. Looked at their website and they didn't have anything I wanted.

Were they good to deal with?

Yes. We had good experiences with both Cavender and Gunn.

Good deal if TTL is included.

Good deal if TTL is included.

Yes, that is why I put OTD.

My total price paid with everything included out the door, $36,380

Glad to see other dealers are doing around 10K off MSRP.

Does this happen pretty much every year if you wait for the right time?

Generally, new cars don't get more expensive as the model year goes on.... they get less expensive. The longer you wait, the better deal you can get, but if you wait too long, then availability becomes an issue.

Saying that, there are deals to be found any time of the year. I bought my truck back at the end of February, and I managed $11.5K off MSRP back then. Seems like even bigger discounts should be possible by now considering the 2015's are right around the corner and GM is still sitting on a ton of 2014s.

FWIW,

I got close to $10k off my High Country.

Sticker was $56,xxx, I got it for $47,xxx. That was plus tax & tag though.
