Dish or Direct?

My plan when I move out is to get fast Internet and a Netflix account there's nothing worth watching on tv imo it's all reruns

Been nearly a year and a half of no dish or cable. Don't miss it. Netflix and Amazon have a good selection and if there's a series I can't miss I'll buy it off iTunes. $80/month was a giant waste of money for me since I travel so much. But I also could care less about sports, going online only can be a problem if you need that stuff.

I had high speed net and cable. About $200/month

 

Now I pay $30 for 24 mbps internet, $8 for hulu plus, my mom owns the netflix account, and $20 a year(about $1.68 monthly) for a membership to Roosterteeth.com because I like their podcasts and a lot of their content.

 

Less than $40/month covers my vidoe needs. With Internet similar ti mine, hulu plus, and netflix will run you about $46/month. Add about $8.25/month ($99/year) if you use Amazon Prime Instant Video

I kept Hulu until The Office finished. Dumped it after. Not paying to watch commercials.

There are originals I like and I have an antenna but I miss a lot because I dont have a dvr

I have had direct tv for 8 years now and couldn't be happier. Awesome picture quality and service. Now just like att for my phone and any other service provider the first person when you call can't do crap for you. When I need something done or free upgrades I will always ask for the customer retention department and get exactly what I want. I have the genie with 2 hd dvrs and one hd receiver with a package that no longer exist and whole home dvr service and pay around 90 a month. But everyone makes their own deals.

TiVo Roamio with lifetime sub and a 4 year warranty from Best Buy. Works out to $14~ a month if it dies the day the warranty expires. And they are pretty reliable so that probably won't happen.

Hulu plus is basically access to anything that has the Hulu app. ABC, NBC, fox, cw, and some others put most of their new stuff on huku the day after it airs. Nickelodeon makes you wait 3 weeks(my boys love the Ninja Turtles)

I like the channel setup better on Dish. The DVR seems okay on both. My grandparents have Dish and my gf has Direct. I'm just having a hard time which one to get. But I love sports. Only sports I dislike is hockey, tennis & golf sometimes. Big Football fan along with NBA, Nascar, & WWE.

I prefer Dish Network over Direct TV, having been an installer for Direct TV years ago. The products and quality of Dish is superior, as is the customer service. That being said, I have done away with Satellite TV and installed a basic HD antenna to receive the local channels and that is all I need. I rarely watch TV and instead spend more time outdoors and doing more productive and healthy things with my life. Aside from some time I spend on the internet. When I do want to watch something, I find it on Netflix. Sports got old long ago.

I've got Dish. I did a fair amount of research before pulling the trigger. Both offer similar channel line ups, but Dish was cheaper. The hopper is nice, plus you can record up to 6 shows at once. I've got a code that will give us both $50 off our bills if you want to go that route.
