Dish or Direct?

I had antenna. Still have it on my wall. I just got tired of only having 2-3 channels worth watching

I put up a 40 foot tower myself. Start to finish. Under $500 and going 7+ years now. Location makes all difference on how many channels are in your area too. Have a good selection here.

I'd LOVE Dish if I didn't have to get a sports package, foreign language programming and Al-Jazeera, along with scores of music channels I don't use, just to get the few channels I do want that are not available over the air.

I just got rid of DISH after 15 years, prices keep going up and old equipment that they would not upgrade for free. I now have Amazon Fire TV and Netflix and aside from missing some racing there is more to watch and no commercials.

I had Dish Network for 10 nightmarish years. Horrible customer service, crappy unreliable equipment.

 

Now I've had Directv for about a year. No problems.

Direct TV here for over 7 years and I have no complaints at all. In my opinion, the best picture quality, and the Customer Service is always been good to me. If I had an issue, they went out of their way to make me feel good again.

So far, I've had Direct for 3 months or so. I really like the picture quality, very good in football games and nascar races.
BIG improvement over Time Warner that I did have.

It may be different depending on what area you live, be around here Direct is much better. The main difference is the signal strength is much better with Direct. I know people where any storm no matter how minor it is will block the signal. But, it has to be a really bad storm for Direct to go out. MY buddy says his Direct seems to only go out maybe 3 times a year and he's had Direct for years.

Long Term Update:

I'm still enjoying my service and great quality.

I have checked the alignment of three friends dishes who had problems with rain fade. All three were what I would call very close to right on. What I did find was at least one or more poor 'quick on' F connector connections. Replaced several between the three of them with high quality crimp ones and none of them report rain fade anymore short of a storm that brings night to day.

Neither... Cut the cable!! Did it over a year ago and have absolutely no regrets. Get yourself a Mohu Leaf antenna, an Apple TV (especially if you have an iPhone), and a Netflix account. Enjoy paying $9 a month for tv.

Tried, but with no apple tv. Apple tv is not a necessity since I have Chromecast, Xbox One, andPS4 all in my living room and a Roku3 in my bedroom. I had an antenna as well, With my schedule and content I watch from places like CBS who don't put their stuff on Hulu caused me to go back to paying for TV. I may try Uverse bcause everything else I have is AT&T

Option 1) its called a TiVo[emoji12] . Like my old premier so much I bought the new Roamio, much improved. You NEED the base model, none of the higher ones have an OTA tuner. Its easy to upgrade the HDD on the roamio.

3.)Get an Amazon fire, sideload XMBC(now called kodi), then get the US VOD add on. You can now access any TV show featured on a us website. That's how we get our CBS when we have signal problems with our OTA.

 

(You can test this by doing the same thing on Your android phone)

 

 

Get the fire box if its going to have a wall in between the router and the TV, as the fire stick WiFi antenna has issues. I got a few for the $20 promo and the one in a different room from router will have full signal one moment, not detect anything the next".
