Windshield crack

Anytime I have called Safelite they were over double what I could find the same glass elsewhere.

May be each region is a little different, but we have some great local companies.

There are some good ones in Austin. A lot of the places had no open availability and safelite was able to do it the next day at my house. Given a broader time range, there are/should be better local options. I had to pay to play... and by play, I mean see.

Same thing happened to mine, took to the dealer and the tech couldnt find anything. Then they brought some suit in from the inside and he said there was a small rock chip on the side. It pissed me off but whatever. These new trucks are terrible. Almost lemons.

Yup, same here. Driving down the highway, no one in front of me for miles. No rock chip present either, called the dealer today and clearly started this was a stress crack. They told me to start a glass claim. The funniest part of the conversation was when the service manager told me the same story about his Silverado 3 weeks ago. Total joke, these trucks are like lemons.

Yes I had it everyday almost. Now that I have 2 cracks I hardly ever hear them

I wonder if that's what's going to happen to me. I hear little rock chip sounds regardless of where I'm driving.

I would even hear them when I was parked.

My father bought his truck a week after me and he gets the same sounds. He has had no problems as of yet.

 

I'm going to be taking mine in for warranty work and to service my drivers alert system tomorrow. I'm going to mention the window to them and I'll report what I come back with.

Chevrolet should put a recall on the glass. They claim that they are rock chips but they arent. They just dont want to own up to it.

Replaced my windshield this week. Tried to get it replaced under warranty but they found a tiny rock chip about 1 inch down from the top. When I washed my truck, the windshield cracked about 18 inches.

 

Replacement windshield is PGW solargreen. No lane departure. $350 cash.

reminds me of the 4th generation Corvettes. The glass t-tops would crack due to severe body flex.

I have not developed a crack yet. My window does pop though. It sounds like a small rock hitting it. Has done it quite a few times now. Anyone else have this problem?

Even after windshield replacement, with aftermarket glass, it still makes the creaks and pops. There is apparently is stress point on the roof-line causing it.

I heard one a couple days ago. Nobody anywhere near my truck.

 

My 08 used to do it too. I went thru 3 windshields on that truck. Mostly, just bad luck. My brother bought it and just took it home with two stars in the windshield. First night I had the truck, driving from the dealership, a rock hit the windshield and starred it. 8 months later another rock hit it dead center in the driver side and made a gunsight crosshair. I drove it for a few months, including a 4000 mile hunting trip. When I got home my head was leaning to one side

I think our 2015 chevy silverado is a rock magnet! 25 days new chip 1. 35 days crack. Everytime driving on freeway SEVERAL rocks hit my windshield. Arodynamics huh? $$$$$$ chaaaaaachinnnnggggg! PLEASE GM RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE
