00Silverado4x4 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Three on the tree and four on the floor. They don't have cool phrases like that anymore. We do now. So now we have, "three on the tree", "four on the floor", and "dial on the dash". "Dial on the dash" I love it! The saying, not the idea, don't care for the idea very much.
Spurshot Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 ...and "tunes" aren't music anymore, they're "ECM and TCM reprogramming"

You know, I feel the same way about shifting into 4WD in my Sierra. I remember when you had to get out and lock in the hubs, then manipulate the lever on the hump. Sometimes the hubs would be frozen, so you had to do what you had to do to thaw them out. Some will know exactly what I'm talking about. Just seemed a lot more involved in the process. Technology!

I still have my '76 Chevy "three on the tree" and manual locking hubs. The truck was well used before I owned it so the hubs weren't frozen as much as wore out for abuse. Got "stuck" in 4wd several times...back up, brake, attempt to shift, repeat, repeat, repeat....
