service engine light 2000 z71 5.3

I started my ttruck today to come home from work and the service engine light started flashing and the engine had a miss that was noticable while idling. Im going to change plugs and wires to see if that works. But what else should I check.

Why not pull the stored codes before throwing money at it?

I had a 2000 that did the same thing after a hard rain. I believe air intake sucked in some water causing the miss. Code went away and never missed again. Pull the codes.

Have flashing service engine light. If I put in drive and take foot off brake the truck moves forfard slowly and jerky like an engine miss. Pulled plug wires one at time but noticed no difference. Pulled plugs and all looked good. All coils are fireing. Could the jerky motion at idle be a trans issue?

Codes are P0301 and P0137

A flashing SES light should indicate a catastrophic code.

#1 fuel injector wasn't pumping. Replaced, fixed.

Congrats on the quick fix! I'm glad it wasn't anything serious.

 

I had similar symptoms one day out of the blue on start up and it was because the fuel pressure regulator became loose and was leaking tons of fuel. I turned the truck off and just put the FPR back on, problem solved!
