"It's Un-American" [because you don't think that way.]

Ironic post of the year award goes to.......

I guess your referring to me, I was a GM at the age of 24, owned my first co at 27 sold it at 29. Invested in the family bis still there at 58. As I stated not rich but happy, half my family didn't finish high school most over achievers. The one thing I was taught was work hard, never be late, and do better than the next guy. Today that's easy everyone wants something for nothing. That's all American.

He may be referring the post prior to your last post

You could be right, a bit of time between my post and his. The un-American thing gets the feathers up.

Yeah, he's referring to my post. The un-American thing was a bit tongue in cheek. But, it was to get a reaction. Got one!

I've always been told America was about a dream... hope for a better life...being able to make a better living just by ingenuity and hard work. Not being satisfied with what you have. This is just my idea of America.

It seems so popular these days to cast negativity on wanting to make a lot of money and have more. If that was a widespread culture, there'd be no leaders and everyone would be on the dole. I have no idea who villainized wanting to make more money and make for a better life but I bet he was poor.

I can't see anyone posting to just eat burgers and be happy not to have debts..?! Or to live within your needs only.

But to be able to jump the fence many people have to do so first.

Then they can start to live within their means. And that doesn't mean not to buy what you want. It means to handle the money right. To make plans how to save up the money. Or to buy e.g. a 42" TV only when you have at least the double or triple amount of money in the saving account.

And yes, as long as the money isn't there it is better to just eat burgers and be happy not to have debts.

I know what you mean JT. But if some people spent as much time on figuring out how to make more money as they did budgeting, they'd have more money. Virtually, every self-made financially successful person struggled to get it and/or keep it. "Clawing your way to the top" is a more literal phrase than figurative.

With very few exceptions, a "livelihood" is a struggle all your life. Get used to it or get used to beans.

It's 6:00 a.m., I have to go to work and claw, just to keep the ground I gained.

$320 in insurance per month for a 3 person family starting in September will definitely eat away from my take home pay. Up until now its been $80 per month, although my son wasn't included.

Even with a pretty decent salary there are just too many damn expenses and its hard to keep up. We canceled cable last month to avoid $60 and to spend more time as a family.

I honestly can't complain about my life or job but it feels like there are just so many expenses and obstacles to truly create a better life even with a good salary. Now I need more $$$$!

Your not just paying for your own insurance, mine went up by 600 per month last year for two, cant wait to see this years increase. Extra money, that's getting to be a thing of the past and im debt free,

Luckily I have relatively low debt, under 10k, so that's not a big worry. But just knowing that I'll be spending $200 more per month on this is just a huge let down. Luckily we can still save but it'll be a little less disposable income for now.

Get out of the union/rust belt and things are much better. Snag a high paying manufacturing job in a red state that has not ran the high paying jobs out of the country yet. You can start making 150k a year but if you goal is to spend what you make or make money losing purchases, you will still be broke. Avoid power plants as the gifted one on top now has them in his cross hairs of jobs to send overseas.

way to get Political.... My Union Job Provides for my Family JUST fine and I'm Damn Proud of it.
