How to find Build Date

Recommended Posts

I know this topic has been covered, but I've done numerous searches for "build date" with no luck. Googled it also.

Anyway, how do I find the build date for my 2014 Silverado?

Thanks!

I'm assuming you mean other than the month/year?

Right... I purchased the truck on March 31. Wanting to know the date it was built.

How about GMC? Those codes don't jive with my VIN.

I would check my door, but they must have used disappearing ink on the info labels??? when it was detailed at the dealer before I took delivery, they must have wiped the numbers right off. Not a very good idea from GM to not protect this obviously easy to remove ink. My only complaint is valuable information as far as build date, tire pressure information is not here on my truck.

Thanks!

Try characters 8 and 10. Mine are C and E (March 2014)

8th digit is your engine "C for L83engine"

10th digit is year built "E for 2014"

Don't thing you can get month built off of vin just looking at it. Dealer could run it for you.

Go to page 25 of this link.

Bad info above. You can only get the year from the VIN.

I guess the GM robots missed my disappearing ink post?

Dumbest damn thing I ever seen on a vehicle!
