Upgraded wheels! Good deal?

Recommended Posts

Well I was surfing craigslist this morning when I noticed a set of 2015 suburban ltz wheels for 1200 bucks. So I inquired. Turns out they weren't chrome which I don't think you can get brushed on a ltz...either way they looked good and it had a set of Continetal tires on them.

I was gonna ask the guy what he would take but after we talked found out he a v6 2014 truck and he did not like them on there because it killed the power. Long story short I swapped hime my z71 18" wheels and tires for the 20"s and I gave $400 to boot..I don't think that's a bad deal do you?

Only thing sucks now is I need to get the tpms re-learned for my truck. I think I'm gonna sell these continetal tires and get me a set of cooper ltz zeon.

Looks good! I actually like both. The originals with the white letters is a classic look to me. Mine is black as well but I'm thinking of color matching my door handles and mirror caps. The seamless all black look you have is clean.

Good Job !

Congratulations, you now have a Texas edition minus the badges. About 50% of the Siverado 1500's down here have that package, looks great, and the ride isn't too bad. I opted for the rare (in Texas at least) all-star package because the ride was a good bit smoother going over bumps with the 18" wheels with taller tires. At any rate, looks great.

Looks good & thinking you will more than get your $400 back when you sell the truck(if that matters) & like the appearance of the 20's better vs the anodized 18's.

But speaking of TPMS,(if anyone knows?) If I buy a set of 20's off of a 2014 to put on a 2013, are the sensors the same?

Sensors are the same. You need to buy the tool or find someone who has to the tool to do the relearn procedure..

im not 100% sure about the 2014's, but other GMs you go into the settings and it will tell you to program right front wheel, then you go and hold the valve open till the vehicle says to move to next wheel. it reads the air pressure change to know which wheel is which.

You did seem to get a deal but I liked how the truck was before the swap. 20's just arent my thing and I prefer aluminum over polished or chrome. Like vette boy said that is standard fare down in Texas, tons of those setups running around. The first set of wheels are unique and just on this year of truck, I think those second sets have been around for a while(2007+) so aren't as unique (or look really close if they aren't). Still looks good though, a set of beefy tires would help even more.

Side note my favorite 20's was the aluminum GMC 20's they had for a few years like below and also the new All Terrain 20 look really good.

Nope, that stopped I believe in 2011 or so. You now need the TPMS relearn tool to reset the TPMS..
