Most of those publications would not dare publish, or further research, the issue unless the article would be favorable to GM ... they make too much revenue from GM to bite the hand that feeds them.

 

I would suggest you provide that information to Consumer's Reports.

I would suggest you provide that information to Consumer's Reports.

They publish plenty of information that could potentially interfere with ad budgets. Just because they don't put out a story on it doesn't mean another set of eyes doesn't see this issue. They have quite a few more contacts than Eddie here does. Just trying to get them to do something.

Let me know if I can help. GM repurchased TWO 2015 Denalis from me. I would happily give them some background as my first buyback had "special" treatment with shocks directly from the proving grounds. GM treated my first truck like a Pitre dish experiment. GM knew of this problem very early and still mass produces a flawed vehicle without a hint of caring for the consumer. GM just does not buyback vehicles without a significant problem...let alone two from one customer. Go get 'em, Yahtzee. We are here to help.

Unfortunately, putting the vehicle in tow-/haul mode does not help. At least, didn't for me and no one else reported that it helped as I recall.

 

This has been going on since last year. No solid fix to date. As unbelievable as it is, that's the situation. I think many of the folks that were regular posting have either given up or sold he vehicle and moved all. The amount of posts per day has drifted down, but the problem is still there and no fix in site. And yes, the potential causes have been all over the map, but speculative at best and nothing in the way of a fix.

"the boom" persists in my 2015i Yukon, nearly 10,000km on the odometer. It's prominent over 60kph and can occasionally be heard when driving slowly over bumps.

 

I'm reluctant to bring this to my dealership based on the experiences that many here have reported.

 

Has anyone tried removing the plastic panel on the interior of the hatch? Banging on it seems to generate a "boom" sound as per a previous post.

 

Somebody, somewhere must have the tools and/or experience to figure this out.

Guys,

 

I wanted to update you on my case status with GM. Anybody that his this issue is SOL. Coming directly from GM, they stated this is HOW THE CAR IS DESIGNED and they understand that I may have more sensitivity in my ears than other but they have COMPLETELY REFUSED to buy back the vehicle, let alone attempt any further repair. I was told that if I am not happy with the ride quality or issues, that I could go back to my dealer and trade it in. Laughable!!

 

In GM's mind, building a faulty car is considered normal and the blame is on the customer for buying the car in the first place. It may be "normal" in the fact that it's present in every car, but it's still a fault.

 

GM has lost a customer forever.

 

So for anybody else out there experiencing this issue, it pains me to say that you are stuck with it. GM has officially taken a stance, and it's not on the customer's side. Shame!

 

Best of luck with your Tahoes, I am off to another dealership today to trade it in...

Well, I've had mine 4wks and it's most likely being traded in as well. Given the world of social media, I think we need to create something to see if this major issue can go viral rather then limited to a couple messgae boards. GM will be forced to do something if every potential buyer is aware and walks away from purchasing. I feel feel for the next family walking into a dealer today throwing down $50k-$80k on a "known" flawed truck.

Pretty broad statement..... "you are stuck with it." Some/most dealerships (mine included) have been fantastic to work with. They realize that it's not their issue. Some will choose to go to bat for you and some will choose to let you walk out and move on.

 

Assume you meant to say "coming directly from GM in my area." I haven't seen anything official released from GM stating this. In fact, I spoke to my service mgr this morning and he said GM is FULLY aware and some type of testing is taking place in Arlington to try to fix the buffeting issue.

Get cracking, then. :-) Scroll back up and see the different publications/outlets that I have reached out to (email and twitter). The more folks that push the louder we will be. Don't event waste any more of the dealer's time until GM has something in place for this.

Doesn't matter how we (GM) market or advertise or what we (GM) know when we (GM) sell these vehicles to our dealers ... the problem is engineered in so take it or trade it in. Note you are not GM's customer ... the dealer is. You get to pay 60k to 90k for a vehicle with engineered in problems so you can drive it around advertising GM's product.

Potential buyer here - I can assure you guys I am reading this thread and double-thinking a 2016 Yukon denali. My 2011 has been perfect and don't want to trade into a potential lemon. I'll pull the trigger if/when GM fixes this issue for the exisiting owners. I certainly won't buy one now without driving it for a week - last week I offered to upgrade to one at Hertz RAC and was declined as they were "sold out", but I'll try again next week.

A cargo area can't be fixed after the fact and wasn't flat when you went to drive it. It didn't tilt at 250 miles..it was tilted from the factory and if that bothered you why did you buy it? The buffeting is a different animal in my opinion. I am not convinced that it can't be fixed. It's clear that you are. I am going hard at it to see if I can get some different eyes and ears on this problem. If we do and it ends up getting fixed, great news. If not, no one here will be able to say it wasn't because people didn't raise enough hell about it.

Go drive one or two or five...there are Yukons on the road without the issue. If you find one, make a deal and enjoy your ride.

When the seats were put down for the first time they were neither flat or even with each other. Back to the dealer...yup, not right, we'll fix it. I'm not the only one to discover this after the purchase. Being told it would be easy to fix turned out to not be so true. I'm sure the circumstances behind many of the purchases of these vehicles with the buffeting were under similar circumstances ... so you didn't drive your vehicle before you paid for it? Maybe it was a special order like mine.
