1st dealership noticed the vibrations at 330 miles on the odometer and road force balanced all 4 tires saying there were all in spec after the RFB.

2nd dealership:

The GM engineer and pico "identified" 2 rear tires that were out of balance, but, those 2 rear tires were new ones that replaced 2 tires that they said were bad. After another round of pico scoping, the 2 new rear tires that were RFB were now also found to be bad, so another 2 new tires were ordered, RFB and installed. The front tires were RFB and then were rotated with the rears. Whew!

Uhm, it might have helped a touch.

Also, since the sunroof was leaking the dealership performed the 5429 and 5318B technical service bulletins due to air pressure, buffeting and harsh/hard ride.

Buffeting is still there.

Dealership(s) have bent over backwards to try to solve these problems.

Now I'm being told that I should be lucky because mine rides much better than the majority of them out there. What?!?

Seems to be unnecessarily restrictive if you require log-in unless I'm missing something

Given what was recently posted on the facebook page (someone claims to have a video showing roof flexion when the buffeting occurs with their suburban) stating the sheet metal is too thin and needs additional support, I decided to do a quick little experiment.

I think it's safe to say that no one in this thread has had the dealer inspect with the picoscope we need a thread with the owners who have had the dealer inspect with the picoscope

Mine has been measured with the Picoscope as we'll. all it showed was the vibration was at the wheel / tire frequency so the did a Roadforce balance. 2 tires out of spec so 2 on order. But, they did Roadforce first time I took it in and after adjustments, all 4 were brought in spec. So, after some use, 2 tires went out of spec. Just like the pickup owners are experiencing.

All this shows is the vehicle is expire leg sensitive to any and all vibrations, and tried to get the tires "perfect" is an unreasonable and futile attempt to solve the real problem - an overly sensitive vehicle. And like AJS800 showmen, the roof skin is at least one of the overly sensitive responses.

FYI, I saw mine in the shop when they removed the headliner and re-attached the skin per the TSB. The cross-struts are a total joke. They are so flimsy looking, it's no wonder the roof is like a drum skin. Unless GM gives in there and dies major structural modifications, I doubt much will change with these POS's. Personally, I would love to spray foam the entire roof. But, the amount of wire, side curtains, HVAC up there, would be impossible to repair anything afterwards.

Keep getting something at the rear tire even after changing, then might actually be the rear end that those tires are on. which makes sense if something in there is not adjusted right it'll keep throwing those tires off.. Jus comparing your story to another I heard

I also have major complaints regards to the wind noise in my 2015 Yukon XL.It feels like all the windows are down but there not blowing wind all inside the cabin. I have taken this Yukon at the dealership so many times that I wish I have never bought this truck. There is no fix at this time for this problem. Since the day I bought this vehicle it has been in the dealership 20 times for various other problems. Driver side seat squeeking and shifting while turning. Steering column making loud clicking sounds while turning. Rear wiper motor not working.Rear tailgate trunk not opening. Fog light bezels fell off. Door Bleeker panels loose and almost ready to fall off. This is the worst new models of trucks to buy, its bulit very poor and cheap plastic all around the 2015 and probably 2016 Yukon,Tahoe and suburban to buy. For $80,000 not worth the money. Gm has offered to buy back my vehicle because they know its a piece of junk.

It is not my facebook page. "yahtzee" started it and controls the group.

I did that to prevent it being pounded with spam and to keep my entire friend feed from seeing me post on this. There isn't really a login process - you click a button and then i let you in.

It appears that someone finally got the buffeting issue resolved. New headliner, had roof support TSB completed, lined ceiling with dynamat, and had all other roof supports fully supported. Owner claims the buffeting is gone.

Here's the problem with that. The vibration was traced as coming from the tires unfortunately that doesn't determine what caused that issue in the first place.

Ok, the dealer determine there is a vibration, what's next. Still don't know the cause to come with a solution to stop it?

Reading multiple threads (PU/SUV) with tires needing road force balancing, that tells me GM received a bad product from the manufacturer of the tire or wheel. Road force balancing a new set of the same manufacturer's bad wheels or tires, guess what...

An out of spec rear end would wear the tires out of round and out of balance. So if the rear end isn't corrected a new set of tires would just do the same thing after driving on them for a while

Possibly, but you have to first make sure the tire wasn't faulty before it was put on the truck. Road force balancing a tire the first time is one thing, continually doing it a dealer has to look somewhere else. With all the posts of road force balancing, I'm not convinced this GM tire supplier provided a quality product. In order to move on, somebody needs to try a different brand tire. If a different brand tire decreases the shaking/vibration, then the next thing to look at would be to try a different brand wheel. If trying those two things and the shaking/vibration decreases over a long period of time, then the tires and/or wheels could probably be eliminated as a cause.

A good question would be are the vehicles experiencing this all have the 22" wheels or is it both the 22 and 20" inch wheels and what brand tires?

From my experience with previous year yukons some came with different brand tires but curious to see if everyone in here have the same brand tires and same size wheels

    • Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.
    • I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.
    • I have these on two vehicles and love them. Pepper is one of them 😉
    • 4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.
    • 2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
