NHT GVWR 7200/7600

Basically yes. One tough, structural, fuctional sticker. In the past advertised tow and payload ratings were often made with a basically stripped down truck and no passengers. j2807 requires 150 lbs for a passenger and all common options (more than 33% of vehicles) be added in. That's your 400 lbs. They had a new spec to meet...cross out the old number and write the new number in (indicating how arbitrarily under-rated they were in the first place).

Sucks for 2014 owners, but for new owners looking to buy it's good news for 2015. It'll be really helpful to those wanting to tow 5th wheels.

True...and with a class v hitch you can take advantage with a heavy tw tt too.

I added the curt class v hitch for towing my tt. It makes a big difference with the WD hitch and you can really feel the stock hitch flex. Now that GM has increased payload and added the 8 speed ( which they should have done for the 14 release!) I may look at a new 15 with the 6.2 NHT. Now if only I could order without the towing mirrors.

What are you pulling? I didn't notice any difference before or after but my tw exceeded the factory hitch specs.

I have a 30 ft Denali tt 8000lbs loaded including 1150lb tw(GCVWR = 14000lbs). I do boondock a lot so the roads are gravel. I noticed less bounce with the curt hitch and my exact same wd setup moved a total of 150lbs onto the front axle and trailer that used to sit on the rear axle. These numbers are cat scale before and after the hitch change. The cheap stock hitch also had also opened up the 2 inch receiver to 2 3/8 inches. With my family of 4 and the trailer I have no payload capacity left with my 7000lb truck. The 14's have a 7200lb capacity but have added 140lbs to curb weight so there is no real gain. The CG6 would go along way to helping. The 2015 F150 has a max payload of 3180lbs and a max tow of 12,200 so gm is still behind but this helps.

Are you talking about the hitch on your 2010? The 2014/15's have much beefier hitches than they did.

OK...this is interesting. Based on the model information on the GM site, a 2015 crewcab, standard bed, 6.2L, 2WD with Max Trailering has a 7400# GVW. This is exactly the same set up as my 2014, but it is rated at 7200. So does this mean I can now consider my GVWR as 7400#. Nobody seems to know. I called Chevrolet and talked to customer service....they didnt know and was told to call my dealer. Called my dealer and talked to a service tech...he didnt know and said I should talk to sales. They had no idea either. As far as I can tell, there have been no modificaions to the suspension or frame on the 2015s, but nobody at GM seems to have a clue. I am getting that deer in the headlights look impression!

Not from a legal stand point.

You must not exceed the ratings listed on the sticker(s) fixed to the drivers door.

Not sure how GM managed to raise the GVWR 200 lbs.?

With that said, I wouldn't be to concerned about occasionally exceeding your trucks GVWR by a couple hundred pounds.

I contacted Chevy customer service on the chat function regarding the change in max gross weight. They didnt know, and sent me to a different rep, who didnt know and referred me to my dealer service rep. I called and he referred me to a tech rep, who didnt know and referred me to sales, who didnt have a clue. So nobody at Chevrolet, knows anything about this new gross weight!

I sure would be interested in knowing like the rest of folks here in the forum GVWR rating for the 2014's if they can handle up to the 7600. I have the 6.2 with 3.73 gears (max towing) and running up against the 7200 lbs pretty quick towing my boat. Did GM just use some of the safety factor to get to this new number?
