Question re: Bilstein 5100 Levelling Shocks

I decided the "best" option for me was a set of King shocks and Rough Country upper control arms.

If some of you are looking for an interim solution, there are some inexpensive aluminum lower spacer kits on ebay. That's what I did several months ago.

I have been waiting for the Bilstien's for months now. Every time I call they say next month. I don't think they will be ready until sometime in 2015. They keep saying it's worth the wait. Sorry but I am done waiting. Now I just need to find the best option to level my truck.

same here I only wanna go up one inch

I had them install the Bilstein leveling shocks from 07-13 on front and 5100's on the rear back in April.

So far after about 7000 plus miles on them they are up to my expectations.

No regrets here.

spurshot, what kind of lift did you get out of that setup? And if you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of everything?

I put a set of 3/4" thick spacers under the lower shock mount and it gave 1 1/2" of lift. My tires were 1" taller and gave another 1/2". I don't think you can put much more than that under the lower shock mount without getting interference with the half-shaft CV joint. It seems like the little kit was like $30-40 on ebay.

Question? Since Revitupfaster and I don't plan on mounting larger tires on our trucks is anyone of the opinion that the front wheel wells look awkward or empty once the truck is raised 1 1/2" to 2" ?

I'm guessing that they will. I'm doing wheels, tires, and level all at once when I pull the trigger.

Question? Since Revitupfaster and I don't plan on mounting larger tires on our trucks is anyone of the opinion that the front wheel wells look awkward or empty once the truck is raised 1 1/2" to 2" ?

I'm staying stock sized tires also considering the 1 inch lower a arm lift not sure how thick the block actually is but claims it will raise it 1 inch. I don't wanna go two high because I pull my enclosed trailer down south couple times a year here's how it sits stock with trailer on

FYI- I was able to order the new rear Bilstein shocks yesterday. Part #33-238319 is the new 2014 rear shock for 0-1" rear level or lift. Currently I was only able to find them online at Shockwharehosue and Allshock. Shockwharehouse was free shipping and stated they are technically not in stock but will come directly from Bilstein. Also they are mislabeled on both sites as 2wd shocks but Bilstein confirmed they are 4wd both by phone as well as their online catalog.

I wouldn't think so Hank.......go through the thread on "Lift & Level", and there are a lot of guys the have just levelled the front, without larger tires. We've both got the factory 20" wheels and tires, so I think the trucks will look fine, just levelling the front.

Do you have bars on your hitch. I also pull a 26' trailer and was worried about levelling my truck and then have the back lower than the front.

Gave up waiting for Bilsteins..........having a "Ready Lift" 2.25" level kit installed on Tuesday. From the way my truck sits, bringing it up 2.25" in the front, will still leave me with a 1" rake, which is just about exactly what I want.

To be honest, I'm not sure the Bilsteins would raise the front enough on their own to get me the look I want. Anyway, although Ready-Lift is a pretty pricey kit over some of the other alternatives, I haven't heard any negatives about them, and as a matter of fact, my dealer is supplying and installing the kit. This way, I shouldn't have to worry about any warranty issues with my dealer doing the work.

I hope I'm going the right way, I'll post my thoughts after the kit is installed, with "Before & After" Pics.

Trwtow.......Don, that Black High Country of yours is really an eye catching truck. It appears to sit just about right in the pics with the trailer attached, or if anything even a little higher in the front. I can see why you don't want to go more that an inch up on the front.

What does you truck measure without the trailer? Mine right now is 36.25" front, and 39.5" rear. Seems like a substantial difference to me, but it is what it is I guess, thats why I don't think the Bilsteins on their own will give me enough, and for that matter, I really didn't want to have to use them at the highest setting. I hear the higher the setting, the more it affects the ride.
