water leaking from weep hole in water pump

i have water leaking constantly from the weep hole in my water pump on a 1999 z71 5.3 liter engine. does that mean my water pump is bad totally or that the gasket is bad or that the bearings are just gone.

Coolant is leaking past the water pump impeller shaft seal. There's no way for a normal human to replace it. Ergo, new water pump time.

No lie. Back when I sold auto parts a guy came in with his water pump and wanted the plug that came out of the hole. Finally had to pull one off the shelf (which we ultimately sold him) to show him it WAS NOT supposed to be plugged. Poor guy.
