bought 2014 LT 4 months ago used and now have 16,000 miles.

how are the work trucks holding up so far with that

So far so good, both had the "shakes" which was remedied with the engine mount shim. The one with 97,000 km has lived it's whole life on the highway and it's current reading is 23.9 MPG which isn't too shabby for something that normally has about 800-1000lbs (generator, welder, cables, leads, etc) in it's bed at all times. That truck has seen every province except the territories thus far ha ha. The windshield looks like it's been sandblasted, but other than that and a stone chip in the drivers side pillar, it could pass for brand new. The younger one had a weird issue were the transfer case shifted to neutral and brought itself and 5000lbs of steel on a trailer through one of the doors at work. A new bumper, grill, and some polish, and she's back to new ha ha. That one is basically an errands truck and we use it for travel and such, it has the 6.2 in it with all the bells and whistles, I think it's around the 16 MPG mark but gets used for the odd towing job when the heavy duties aren't around. They have been great trucks though. Both have original brakes and nothing other than tires have been swapped. Really impressed with the fuel economy they've been getting. Definitely an improvement over the 900s.

Well I have had mine for 2 months and only 1200 miles, working too hard and not enough camping/road trips.

 

However my father in law has you all beat. He is a supervisor in the bakken oil fields and lives out of his truck. After blowing the motor on his 2013 (he drives like a madman and used to race dirt track for years) he picked up a 2014 ltz crew shortly after the new year if I remember. When I talked to him last month he was at almost 90k miles. The truck gets beat on daily, lots of hauling and towing, he loves burnouts for the grandkids, mostly country road driving and the motor never gets shutoff. Completely stock and zero issues. He has gone through 10 windshields already and only replaces them when it is impossible to see. Paint still looks great on it.

 

This was a big consideration in my decision to purchase my slt sierra. After seeing what he puts these half tons through I am confident in the longevity. I would love to see the intake for the oil can debate, might have to pop it off next time he is in town. I would be willing to bet he is well over 90k by now. I will get an odometer picture next time he is in town.

whoa! that's some serious mileage in 1 year

tell me about it LOL. I hate using my truck for work but I really don't want to drive my companies Ford that is like a giant billboard. Plus they pay 75% of my payment and all my gas. I would rather roll around in style and just keep up on my maintenance
