Start at page 27 on the engine tuning thread, all your questions on tuning should be there.
Isriam Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 tuner is a real game changer and actually works. that is a valid investment.
joeglock40 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 So since e85 gives you like 25 more hp n tq, if you run the the premium fuel tune, will the tuner still give you even more hp n tq running e85? Without getting a custom tune at least...
WendysOrBust Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 So since e85 gives you like 25 more hp n tq, if you run the the premium fuel tune, will the tuner still give you even more hp n tq running e85? Without getting a custom tune at least... I don't think thats how it works. From what I've read there is a sensor in the fuel tank/fuel pump which detects ethanol levels. This information is sent to the ecu which in turns adjusts timing and injector flow rate. My guess would be that a "93 Premium" Tune only adjusts unleaded gas tables, and once e85 is pumped the tables revert back to the oe e85 tune. Maybe someone can chime in with some experience.
joeglock40 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ya that what i figured but was hoping for the better, wonder if anyone done Dyno test to check
KARNUT Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ya that what i figured but was hoping for the better, wonder if anyone done Dyno test to checkThat's just human nature, never before could you get such a HP gain with so little, just adding gas. Then you add a tune, raise the shift points, the RPMs, take out some of the TM and raise the max speed. Big difference.
joeglock40 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ya pretty sweet deal by just changing fuel. I got 18 mpg going 75 on the highway with e85 yesterday not shabby
axe124 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 So I just got my Hypertech Max Energy programmer. After reading the quick install directions...do I really need to remove the fuses for my on-star and remote start? I've had programmers in the on other vehicles...never had to remove fuses.

[/quote They all say that I never do. Could be just luck, This is my fifth hand held tuner.
axe124 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Thanks Karnut...I was thinking the same thing.

I deprogram and reprogram mine whenever I'm in for recall service where the dealer is going to be doing programming of their own and I've never removed the fuses.
ToesonTheNose Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Is the Hypertech tuner good? i guess the reason why is I have been dead set on getting a blackbear on my truck, and a local GM shop in my area is doing custom tunes using hypertech and he has a dyno and would do dyno runs and a custom tune for less than blackbear. from my short novice time on this site blackbear seems to have been the pinnacle in terms of tuning
KARNUT Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I've been on this site for a year never read anything negative about blackbear. For what I wanted hypertech worked well for me. I never read anything about custom tuning with hypertech if I was interested in a custom tune I'd go with blackbear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
joeglock40 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Ditto, hypertech works fine for me on premium tune but if i wanted a custom id go bb or diablo
