Switch to DL3 mirrors?

Is it possible to switch my 2010 1500 stock (power but not folding,etc.) side mirrors to the DL3 type with turn signals? Is there a write-up somewhere? Thanks.

I had a 2010 sierra with the power adjust and heated mirrors and I did the swap to the ones with the turn signal power adjust and power fold... Everything worked just find except the power fold did not work and it will not work unless you wire it to a separate switch and the. The power fold will work..

The swap is straightforward if you don't want power fold. Take one off, unplug from under the switch panel on the door. Slide new ones in place, plug back in and close everything up.

I just wanted the turn signals and the drivers side autodim. I retained the original DL8 power heated manual fold. The turn signals were plug and play. I had to wire up the autodim feature. I just transferred the glass only. Works like a charm. Enabling the powerfold to work if your truck does not have the door modules is a pain.

So you switches the glass from the DL3s to the DL8s. I thought about this, as sometimes I need to fold in the mirrors, and if you don't have the power fold wired up, the mirrors will not fold. It it a tough process?

It wasn't too hard. I bought a pair of DL3 mirrors from Ebay cheap due to non functioning power fold feature. You will need the harness from the DL3 mirrors to connect to the connector in the door foe the signals to work. The glass twists off.

This is my tutorial on the DL8 to DL3 mod. The mirrors I installed were DL8's with DL3 glass. In the tutorial I have the information on how to wire in the auto dim so that feature works with the auto dim rear view mirror.
