Is there an ecu flash for poor fuel mileage?

OK so I have had my 2014 5.3 3.42 crew 4x4for exactly a year.19,750km and life time dic shows 17.9l/100 kms. A Co worker has identical truck I checked his dic today and his is 14.9l/100 kms for 18,000 kms. I do tow a small work trailer during the week. My 2008 5.3 4.10 4spd auto got about 17.6.im thinking something is not right here.Has any one else have this poor economy. I don't drive with a lead foot either. I'm thinking with this crappy fuel economy I would be better off with a ego boost, at least I would have some power.

Doing any sort of towing will drop the fuel eocnomy. I actually think that your average is quite good for towing. The Ego Boost won't do any better, it may have the power to pull but your fuel eocnomy is going to be the same if not worse.

I have actually noticed better MPG with the new wintermix of Fuel , and the cooler air temperature. No local E85 places near by, but when I did fill up, I noticed it was a little more peppy. Maybe just a mind game. Highway with e85 I got 23mpg.

EPA mix : City i was getting 14Mpg
Winter mix in getting city 17Mpg ( Past two tank ups)

Anyone else notice this?

Note:: I do not tow, and occasionally i like to get on it.

That is so strange. I have the exact opposite now with the weather changing. At the tail end of summer, I was working on 22mpg average. Now it's averaging mid to low 18's.

I strictly use 93 octane, same station (Sunoco), same pump, I don't tow, and I drive the same route everyday.

As for the OP's mileage, I too think that is perfectly fine for what he's doing with the truck.

And no, IMHO going to a Ford will not solve your mileage problems. What a joke with their so called "tests" with the other manufacturers. I'd like to see the same runs with heavy air and cool temps. Bad enough where they were, when the temp started cooling down the Chevy started kicking their ass!

Do you think it might be the AC running less?

Does your friend also tow? As said, any towing will definitely cause a hit on fuel mileage.

No my friend does not tow . Strange that my old non direct injection afm 5.3 4.10 1500 4 spd auto got as good or better lifetime economy.

If your co-worker doesnt tow a trailer, thats why he's getting better gas mileage than you. Towing around your trailer will eat up gas mileage.
