Anyone have Rigid Fog Light install kit and Dually/D2 lights?

I doubt they will throw codes but for $5 what the Hell lol

 

I have a similar harness for my HID's right now. Was planning on using it as part of the LED install as well.

 

Wish we could hear from someone who has them...

60 bucks and you don't have to hack anything. Rigid makes a great mount for these lights.

False my friend. The $60 kit still requires you to cut the plastic that actually holds the stock fog light housing in place before you put the $60 bracket in place.

 

Does anyone have a part number for the adapter to connect to the factory fog light? Would I need a male or female H16 (ps24w) connection. This way I can make a pig tail with that connection and the deutsche plug and avoid cutting up the factory harness. Plug and play so to speak.

Just search HID ballast to H16 connector and you can hack up the HID end.

really? So is it worth the money for the mount or just DIY to mount? Which looks cleaner?

I was happy to pay for the $60 mount. Kept me from having to make a mount and I knew it would work perfectly. It looks great IMO. It could be slightly larger as there is a small gap between the plate and the edges of the fog light area, but you will only notice it if you are less than 10" away from the mount and if you are looking for it. So it's hardly noticeable.

 

The rigid fog mount is certainly worth it IMO.

 

Determining which looks cleaner is a bit subjective. You could get someone who is amazing and can outdo the rigid mount all day everyday, but then you may get the less than average joe who may have some trouble making it or who may make a crap looking mount.

 

So unless you have plenty of time on your hands to make the mount, just get the rigid. Keep things simple.

I just got the two light kit last night. I gather there is more for me to buy to make the electrical connection to the factory fog system? Also, do i have to incorporate the 15 amp fuse that comes with the kit?

Great to know! Is the gap you speak of there for room to apply covers and filters for the lights, or is that not an option with this mount?

The gap I am speaking of is not for covers for the lights. The gap I am speaking of is on the outside of the mounting plate. It is formed because the plate is not quite as large as the fog area itself. But it is extrememly close.

 

There is a gap for covers to be installed but that is on the inside of the plate which outlines the pod itself

I got the D2 driving pattern in mine. They are incredible. 5000x's better than stock. Like mentioned, you just need to cut some plastic out that holds the stock dogs and then drill 4 holes and bolt in the plates and the pods and wire them in. No wiring harness is needed as they don't draw much power so just splicing into the stock output straight to the pod is just fine.

The improvement in output alone Is worth getting the pods. And IMO, the square pods look much better in the square cut outs in the bumper. Those circular fogs that the Sierras come with just don't look good. A round peg in a square hole. It didn't work out when we were 5 trying to match the shaped pegs with the shaped holes, so why would it work on the front of a truck!

By splicing straight to the stock output, do you mean just exposing the copper from the pod cord and from the factory fog light feed cord and splicing the two wires. Are the long red wires with the fuse needed for this install?

If when you say "long red wires with a fuse" you mean the wire harness that comes with the pods, no there is no need for a wire harness in this apploication as the pods do not draw enough power to need a wire harness. They will work just fine. I would not splice them that way. I would cut the rigid connector from the wire harness that came with the light. The connector that is on the light and the wire harness is designed to keep out moisture from the pods. I would not compromise that seal. Just leave the pod and its wiring in place and cut the connector from the rigid wiring harness, and splice the connector to the stock fog light wires, then plug the harness in. That would be the best way to go IMO.

what the best set up - 1. driving 4 lamps , 2. driving / spot, 3. wide / spot . im also thinking to a add a amber cover on the outter ones , wire to parking lites ?? any information will be helpful . Thanks

Did mine, easy.

 

Cut off the factory plug and put on the rigid. If your going to cut the plastic surround that can't be fixed what's the difference in a plug. My .02...

The surround can be replaced (probably much less expensive than the factory wiring harness). The integrity of the factory harness can't...

I have been running the Rigid Dually D2 in driving beam pattern for several months now. Mounted with the rigid brackets and cut the factory fog harness. Works great the 2" LED's are way better than my HID converted headlights.

    • I've installed cheap eBay new aftermarket digitizers before.  They work.  Did a bunch of Cadillac CUE (aka Cadillac's MyLink) for someone years ago.  They all worked fine after the repair.    That number 22740886, that is a component part # for GM.  You can use it to search, but its not something that's obtainable at the dealer level.     So pretty much any of these will work - 2015 Colorado Digitizer for sale | eBay
    • Black bumper and the later years Z-71 style color matched grille.
    • You can install tailpipes that direct the exhaust sideways vs the OEM one that goes straight back. There are several on the market, do you own research. HOWEVER, you need to make sure the Venturi vents are still intact, otherwise it will throw a engine code. There is a sensor somewhere that detects back pressure on the exhaust. And if it doesn't collect the correct metrics, it will throw the truck into limp mode. 
    • "Teardown" is complete. Head surfaces are clean and ready, new intake is prepped and ready. Coolant drained and water pump is removed, radiator is removed, new hoses and pump are ready.   The replacement intake is also from a '95 (with I think 260k, the odometer said). Noticeably less pitting where it covers the rear coolant passages. I'm not sure if that's a tribute to more frequent use, more frequent coolant changes/upkeep, or if the intake was machined at some point. But it appears I found a good one.   My coolant hoses were original, and the lower hose still retained the factory spring inside. It's not really rusty, but it's got deposits all over it. Unsure if I should re-install it (will thoroughly clean it first). Someone said hose technology has gotten better since 1995 (has it?) and I don't need the spring. I think modern EPDM is what made those hoses last from 1995-2026, so it's a question of how much suction can the water pump really pull, and will it collapse the hose without a spring?   I'm stopped and waiting for parts, however.   When I first brought the truck home, the fan was intermittently hitting the radiator shroud. I could see someone had monkeyed with the shroud (put a bunch of cardboard as a spacer between the upper/lower shroud halves. Someone said the motor mounts have likely failed and the engine has sagged. I wasn't sure I believed that. The engine is really solid in its mounts: To remove the old intake I *just* nearly permanently welded to the heads with freshly cured RTV and gasket snot two weeks ago, I literally had to use the arms on my lift and a chain with a bolt attached to the intake to pull it loose. It almost picked the front of the truck off the ground before ....scuuuuuuuuuuup.... I could actually hear the gaskets tearing and it broke loose and the whole truck settled back down. Motor barely moved.   SO, those parts I'm waiting on... The lower radiator mounts/bushings had completely failed. The radiator needs to be insulated from the rad support, and the bushings help the rad stand at the correct height. The plastic "baffle" was also destroyed at some point. Someone had attached the shroud to it incorrectly, overlapping a joint that should have been underlapped, creating another suspect issue potentially causing things to hit the fan. Broken tabs, side is busted off, and it's perma-formed/bent where it was jimmied incorrectly.   The baffle? Unobtainum. Long since discontinued from GM, of course. Aftermarket/capa/chinese? Also unobtanium. In GM's infinite wisdom, it appears there are at least two different variations whether the Blazer is 2 or 4 door, and I can't yet tell if they shared the same part with the S-pickups. Plan B, if I can't find a viable used one, will be to create a bracket to re-assemble the critical joint I need to seal a gap with the shroud. But that will bug me, it won't be...perfect.   The water pump bolts appear to have been installed with...plumber's putty. I guess, sure, if it works...? I've found a few "backyard fixes" like that. Someone's been here before....   If I can't find someone to jam bamboo under my fingernails to fill my free time this week I think I'll install the driver's power window motor and replace the rear door speaker that's inop. I've got a genuine GM "9.5" ohm working replacement. Why GM used a non-standard resistance....nevermind. Of course they did, you can get more sound from a cheap factory amp that way.   And the saga goes on...
