Brakes and steering wheel

So I slid out of control and in a state of panic our steering wheel and brakes locked up on our 04 Yukon. Nobody seems to know why both locked up.

 

Can anyone help me out ?

 

The brakes and steering still move but they're extremely stiff

I'd look everything over real good. Brakes locking up could be from the road conditions. If all 4 wheels totally lost traction then the wheel will lock as the truck can't tell the difference from when all four wheels are sliding and the vehicle is stopped. As for your steering, fluid level good? fluid condition good? suspension binding up, such as worn/loose parts? May just want to take it to a dealer or shop and have them give it a once over just to verify everything is in good working order, especially being winter time.

Did the engine stall? Causing you to lose power steering?

Could it just be the 4x4 that's locked in ?

Yes on steering, if your trying to take tight turns. No on brakes as 4x4 will not effect braking ability.

1. What vehicle including make, model, year, miles?

2. Did you hit anything?

3. Did you take it to a mechanic?

4. Did they "lock up" causing you to loose control or did they "lock up" after the incident?

5. Are they still "locked up"?
