No foglights option

My 2014 Sierra I bought without all the bells and whistles so the front bumper has foglights area blocked over of course.

Now I see advantages to enhance the headlights by adding foglights....do you think I will find the wiring already there behind the bumper.....or will I have to run wiring and switching and relays. (I am hoping GM wanted to keep thing simple and used same wiring harnes for mutiple optioned vehicles.)

yes I could take the time to look underneath, but the valence is very low and it is winter here so not as easy as in summer.

thoughts ?

iirc, GMC has a separate harness that you can buy (There's a guy here on the forums that was selling the harness and switch for $150 or so usd. Check the for sales for that one.) It's gonna be simple plug n play no matter how you look at it though.

for silverado you have to change the whole front harness, and costs a bit more. Plus you need a new bumper. (we really got the short end of that stick..)

There's also a rigid LED kit iirc that works for gmcs. Probably give you WAY more light than the stock fogs. May want to consider that?

Sounds way more complicated than I wanted. Plug and play for simple me would be buy some foglights , cutout the bumper black plastic inserts to size. Plug the lamps into the wire already hanging there.

I guess I was dreaming. I do want the lights low for driving when snowing hard and so less glare with lights low.

I might go old school like I I did back in 1979, just buy some lights and run wires to battery and thru firewall (low) with toogle switch under the dash. (with inline fuse at the battery)

or at least thats how I remember it 35 years ago....but senility is pending !

I see the Sierra has a place for a second battery too............hmm brain is rattling :)

I would suggest the Rigid foglight conversion as well - it will probably run you the same price as stock foglights and have 3x the output.

You could also combine the rigid fog light kit (brackets) with a cheaper set of 3" cube leds they are all basically the same dimensions. But in the case of the LED products out there, you get what you pay for.

You will definitely have to run a wire through the firewall - there is a large grommet where the main harness feeds through now that would serve as a path just BE CAREFUL! Another tip is to have the switch (inside the cab) on the negative side of the power to the relay. This reduces the the chances of ever shorting out the power wire out when the lights are off. Hope this makes sense.

There's at least one other option. there are wireless remote switches for auxiliary lights.

take a look a look around the area and see if you have a wiring harness. I know on Fords Ive had most accessories had the plug there including fog lights. I bought the ford kit for my 08 diesel for 100 bucks plug and play within 30mins snapped the dash and plugged in the new light switch, done.

I would do some asking around maybe a dealer. I would guess the wiring is already there.
