Trying to understand what people are saying then I see this NBS, NNBS, etc nonsense and I get quite confused. Not newb friendly at all. Is there a listing of them all and what they might mean?

The correct nomenclature is gmt400, gmt800, gmt900, K2

Nbs means new body style

nbs was generally linked to gmt 800's, nnbs was linked to gmt 900's (07-13)

The problem is no one used them with any consistency. Which is why I agree with Ryan.

But this is probably as close to "official" as one can get:

OBS: 400-series trucks (1988-1998 for most models)

NBS: 800-series trucks (99-06, limited production in 2007)

NNBS: 900-series trucks (07-13, also 2014 HDs)

NNNBS: K2 trucks (2014+ 1500, 2015+ HD trucks)

It gets absurd which is why when speaking broadly about the generation of a truck, going by the platform code is easier/clearer.

Nnbs ranks among the stupidest ideas ever. New is new and always will be. So one could simply state I have a 2xxx truck with the new body style. Back in 07 if you called around for a part they would ask, "is it the new body style?" Not is the new,new body style.

What is the new style though? The issue is when someone says 2007 NBS you don't know whether they mean "new body style" or NBS as a designation. So 800 or 900 are a lot easier to say.

my favorite is when you call say safelite to get a windshield on an 07 they ask if it is a "classic model" as defined by the half circle speedometer.

K2 are the newest trucks

I never cared for that either because one might mean something else to someone else. When I was on GMFullSize everybody used those terms and it kind of got annoying. I just go K2, GMT900, 800, 400 and so on. Don't really talk about pre GMT400 much so can't really think of a name for them.

They were called "oldies, but goodies". LOL

The old '72 Chevys have always been my favorite body style.
