Just curious how mnay went from a 11/12/13 A/t into a 14? pros and cons, looking at either a 12 A/T with 12k or a new 14 A/T, both are 5.3 3.42 SLE's anyone regret going into a 14? any personal towing knowledge that the older body tows better?

Brother has a 2014 Silverado LTZ with a 6.2 and 3.42s and he loves it, its got plenty of power and i think on his DIC it says his avg mpg is 20.1, on fuelly it says 19. I have an 09 LTZ with a 6.2 and 3.42s and i love it, but his new 14 is amazing, its so quiet and smooth on the road plus the new interior is really nice with the aluminum trim and big Nav screen. can't beat 12k towing capacity with 20 mpg and a 14.5 second quarter all in one truck.... The only con so far on his 6.2 is that it takes like 10 or 12 quarts every oil change, but the 5.3 is still 6 quarts to my knowledge.....towing wise there won't be much different between the two 5.3s... the trailer brake and downhill decent are cool new features too in the new trucks that work really well.... no towing experience but with more power and tq and more new features with towing i would say the new one would be the better option

The new 5.3 takes 8 litres of oil. I like my 14, however you can not completely disable stabilitrac like in the last generation. It comes back on at 56 km per hour. Just about got me stuck in the mud last week.

That is my biggest complaint.

As far as towing, i never towed heavy just my cargo trailer but I haven't noticed a difference performance wise. I never watch the gas guage other than to know when to fill up so I can't comment too much on mileage. Plus my 14 has a lift kit and my 10 didnt.

The 2012 is ancient technology compared to the 2014 + ... I wouldn't even consider the older truck.

8 quarts for what??? I call bs

You're right. I was full of shit. The actual capacity is 8.5 qts..

Per the 2014 owners manual:

The 2014 is night and day form my 2007

I still like the smoothness of the 4L60e/4L65e as the 6 speed down sifts hard and clunky at low rpm in lower gears..especially at any grade that isn't flat. But the newer truck is better in almost all other aspects..but 07 headlights are better and long term verdict on DI still out.

My wife drove my 07 last week and really downed it compared to hers.....but it is paid for to.

More oil capacity means more oil to heat up. Oil not only is a lubricant, but also acts a coolant. Also, when these Ecotecs get some miles and years under their belts, it means more oil reserve when they start drinking it.

I came from a 2001 Chevy 5.3l into a 2010 Sierra AT 5.3l and now into a 2014 Sierra AT with the 6.2l. Night and day, there is very little road noise. The truck rides smoother and has a lot more power and delivers far better gas mileage. I had my 2010 Blackbear tuned and the best it got was around 18mpg on the highway. My 2014 with the 6.2l motor gets anywhere from 20-22mpg on the highway as long as I keep it under 70mph.

I love my truck and would not turn back at all and that is saying that knowing I sold my 2008 Corvette and the 2010 Sierra AT in order to consolidate vehicles and get into my 2014.

I went from a 2012 Silverado to a 2014, and like other have said it's a night and day thing. The last generation of truck doesn't even compare to the new trucks…
