2014 Silverado iPhone dash keeps saying connected and disconnecting

So this is driving me nuts - The truck is constantly saying iphone connected and iphone disconnected. I just got a new iPhone 4S 64GB to replace the one that died last week and same problem! I hear from a dealer this is common place, even with the newer iPhones. But couldn't find a topic/thread anywhere else here. Pretty sure it usually happens just when using Bluetooth wirelessly only but not positive. So I've replaced the phone, and obviously therefore repaired the phone too.

Happens about every minute. Displays on the dash in front of the steering wheel. FWIW I have a Mylink with the big screen. Annoying to say the very least.

Anyone else have this or find a solution? (And don't even go there with a different brand phone since the iPhone works well with all my other Bluetooth crap!) ;-)

Have you tried completely un-pairing the phone from the truck and the truck from the phone. Then reboot the phone and turn off the truck and let it sit for a few minutes. Come back to the truck and freshly re-pair the devices

Hi Mad Max,

I’m so sorry to hear of the difficulties that you’ve been experiencing connecting your iPhone in your Silverado. Feel free to send us a PM with your VIN and more info and we can certainly look into this matter for you. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Un-pair it from the radio on the radio menu's

Tell the iPhone to forget the device.

Then re-pair and you should have no more issues.

Phone has the latest IOS firmware. 8.1.2

Unpaired in truck and on phone did the "forget this device" thing.

Reconnected and same problem. ;-(

I may have to contact the GM rep here but I may hold off until I do a little more investigating and get some more feedback here.

Hands free operation is a pretty important safety issue.

BTW good link to that iPhone connectivity problem list. Seems like most everyone was happy until the 8.1.0 upgrades and affected lots of different makes and models.

I know this sounds simple but I had the exact same problem. Sounds like the connection on your cable is bad. My office provides the phone (and therefore, the charger cable too) and we realized on some of the stock white cables that they wore out easily. Gave me a new cable and I've never had the problem again.

iPhone is not supported to stream via Bluetooth and is recommended to be plugged in via the cable to USB port. If this is happening while plugged in try a new/different Apple cord (aftermarkets are iffy) if it still happens take it in to the dealer.

I changed out the USB cable and even plugged it into a different port. Funny thing is I didn't even remember to plug it in this afternoon when I went out for something and I noticed that during the trip while the phone was in my shirt pocket the dash started showing the connected / disconnected constantly about a minute apart. So not plugged in, but this is what Bluetooth is meant to be for...

OK. I brought it into the dealer for an oil change and had them write it up for the Bluetooth. They said it is due to an incompatibility with my iPhone 4S. Of course I had another iPhone 4S last month with the same problem, so they said, again, my iPhone 4S software [my phone!] was incompatible. I guess I may never know until I shell out another $500 smackers for an iPhone 6S and another $200-300 for the new chargers I have everywhere (bedroom, livingroom, office, boat, truck, other truck, suitcase, go bag, etc, etc, etc at $25 each). Which will happen sooner or later like the next time I drop my phone in the ocean - a fairly regular occurrence lately! Older iPad will still require dualing old cables or adapters everywhere too! Maybe I'll just throw that in the ocean too the next time the phone falls in! :puke:

Been there done this, for 6,000 miles my samsung s5 will go on and off bluetooth. i even replaced the phone, erased it and started from scratch etc... still does it. been to the dealer etc. not bad for a $49k truck. my dad has a 2014 also and in 10,000 miles has not had 1 blue tooth issue with a old IPHONE!!! what a joke. 4 warranty claims in 6k,...not happy with this truck. i hope you guys get fixed up

Zero warranty claims in 10K miles - have been very happy with truck. The fact that the Bluetooth shows intermittent connection is not a deal breaker for me. Irritating but not a deal breaker.

I have the same disconnect/connect issue with my 2015 High Country and Samsung Note5, Lollipop 5.1.1. Tried all the delete, re-pair,factory reset troubleshooting, no luck. Had my local Chevy dealer flash the human interface device, no change. Returned phone to Samsung for replacement, new phone worked for 3 weeks, then same issue. Also, texts do not show on the screen but they will read them aloud with the listen button. My phone works fine in other vehicles. My wife has the same phone and it works fine in her 2015 Impala 2LTZ, same stereo. I have a case open with the infotainment group. Please update this link if any one gets any updates. Thanks, Todd.
