Apple = phone nazis lol. I still love them though. I always end up jail breaking every one of their phones and tablets I've ever owned from the first 8gb iPhone with edge to the 5s, still haven't had time to do it for the 6+ yet. Mine started acting up this weekend, then I soon realized I was connected to the truck's wifi that I had a trial of, and had used all the data up on it lol.

My 2015 Silverado can read incoming texts but reply won't work... that's because I have an iPhone 5s on 8.2. When you want to send a text or reply to one received, you push and hold the steering wheel talk button and use siri to do it. So yes, you can send and receive texts with iPhones, it's just different than androids, androids can make use of the reply button, iPhones can't. It's not a GM decision, it's an apple thing. My wife's android can reply. Nothing wrong with the design, the marketing of it all... it's purely an apple decision. The guy mad and wanting to be compensated is just unreasonable... but to that guy, know this... you do still have a benefit of using your iPhone, and that's siri pass-through. Push and hold your steering wheel talk button to access it, android can't do that with their google now as far as I know. There's wins and losses either way... but it's still a great system... I'm happy with it. Had a 2014 that couldn't do it, so I'm very pleased my 15 can!

I've found that the hands free responses with Siri works a lot better for me if I say the punctuation at the end of my sentences. If I don't, she seems to think I'm done before I am usually. If I try to beat the clock and say everything real fast, it usually becomes jumbled up gibberish.

For example, if I am sending a text and say: "I'm on the gm trucks forum replying to a thread period I am replying to a post about texts not working period some people can get them to work comma while others have not been able to period" it would type/text it:

"I'm on the gm trucks forum replying to a thread. I am replying to a post about texts not working. Some people can get them to work, while others have not been able to."

Also when Siri asks if you are ready to send the text, if it isn't what you want it to say, you can say "edit" instead of "no". By saying no, Siri quits and you have to go through the whole process again; by saying edit, you can just re-speak the text without having to select a contact again.

This may be common knowledge to most, but I thought I'd share that, as it's helped me a lot with not having to restart my texts while driving as well as making it more efficient with understanding what you want to say.

My incoming texts worked for the first few days I had my new 2015, then I upgraded the IOS and now it won't work at all...I have an iPhone 5 and Sprint.

Iphone 6+ on AT&T, software version 8.1.3 with no issues; I've upgraded several times since I purchased the truck with no issue. Looks like version 8.2 is out now, I'll install and see if it still works.

iPhone 5, latest software, text messages now working again...not sure what I did, had to "pair" again, deleted both out of phone and Intellilink, started over, made sure notifications were on, etc. Still can't reply due to the iPhone "security" thing with bluetooth, but at least I can see them come in now over the screen, etc.

I have a '15 Denali HD and a VZ iPhone 6+ on iOS 8.2 (latest SW). I had a heck of a time getting text messaging to work. But, after thoroughly reading this thread and reviewing my phone settings, I finally got all of the settings correct. It is now working great.

I am receiving text notifications on my nav screen with an audible alert, and am able to activate Siri to respond by holding the call answer button on my steering wheel. Siri translates and sends my text message replies with relative ease.

My phone is locked down with TouchID and a complex password, but it does not hinder text functionality.

If anyone wants specifics on settings let me know - I think the settings that finally fixed my issue were in the settings-notifications-messages menu: turn on "show previews" and "show alerts from everyone". I have banners turned on, "allow notifications" on, and "show on lock screen" on as well.

Found out today if you need to send multiple texts with Siri hands free, once you say send on the first one, you can tap the answer button on the wheel again while it still shows "waiting for device response" in the DIC; and can say who you need to send the next one to instead of pressing and holding and waiting for Siri to respond all over again. Pretty slick.

For all iPhone users you need to turn off the iMessege function after you select the show notifications tab in bluetooth. Go to settings on your phone, select messeges and turn it off. Easy as pie. Please contact me for any technical questions that anyone has. I'm a technology expert at Chevrolet.

To respond to texts you need to long press the push to talk button on the steering wheel or long press your home button on your phone until Siri comes up. Tell Siri to text whoever and say the messege.

You can turn it off whenever. After you turn it off unpair your phone. Turn the vehicle off. Open the driver door for 30 seconds. Start your vehicle. Repair your phone and you should be good to go.

I use my IPhone 6 Plus with my truck and have never needed to turn off the iMessage feature.

I went into the phone and first selected General then Bluetooth. Then selected the blue i for GMC intellilink. Turned on all of the selections and it works perfectly.

When I want to Talk to text I just need to plug the phone into a USB port and use the " Hey Siri " function.
