Text messages don't work on 2015 Silverado

I have a new 2015 Chevy Silverado I cannot get the text messaging to work. I have a iPhone 6 I have followed up on posts here and I have done everything that was mentioned. I've gone to notifications pressed that as posted, the text is turned on as well as Bluetooth and paired. I've tried everything. I'm wondering if this is a problem for other owners. I've paid so much for this truck you would think this would be pretty simple and GM would have this down correctly. I'm very disappointed

Update your phone os to latest. Unpair, and pair bluetooth again. Still havong problems? Pair an identical phone to truck. Does it work? Something funky with your phone. Doesnt work? Take to dealer, somethong funky with your link. At dealer, ask your salesman to pair your phone to an identical truck. Does it work?

Process of elimination, and isolate which device is funky.

Thanks for the information... I've actually done all of that updated iPhone 6 to 8.1 paired it several times and tried another 2015 Silverafo at my dealership and used a iPhone 5. I read that if you updated your phone to IOS 8.1 your out of luck. I think this is crazy that GM would not have this working in a $48,000.00 truck but it works fine with a iPhone 6 IOS 8.1 on a $18,000.00 Spark. Very Sad

Make Sure you have Allow Notifications , And Show on Lock Screen turned on on the iPhone for Messages.

When the phone is connected to the radio check the Bluetooth settings on the iphone and see if there are extra options listed for the device.

Make sure everything is enabled.

Other than that I'm out of idea's....

Thanks for your help. I'm just going to take it into the dealership and let them figure it out. They should advertise something that is not tested and not have it work correctly. I do a lot of driving and get many texts that's one of the reasons I got the truck. These applications should be working when the trucks are sold I've heard the Tahoe's, Yukons and Denali's all are having the same issues. Anyway thank you.

You will NOT get text to fully function from an iPhone on these vehicles. You will be able to receive text but reply is not something that Apple supports. You can waste time taking it to the dealer if you like but they will not be able to fix it.

Thanks for your help also. I understand now but you mentioned that I should be able to at least recieve incoming text messages. I can not even get that to work. Any ideas I've tried everything. Thanks

Yeah I've heard that most work just the iPhone 6 figures just my luck. I think that GM and the dealerships should compensate the consumer for false advertising and put a disclaimer out there stating that certain smartphones do not pair or even work eith the new intellalink systems. They just flat out lied to us.

My Android and truck play nice together.

Sounds like another apple fail.

My Android HTC is going to get tossed out the window of my Truck at some point.

Two things I can think of...

First, on my iPhone 6+, the option to show notifications was not enabled by default. If it's not enabled, you won't get the interaction with your truck. Go Settings > Bluetooth > click the "i" next to Chevrolet MyLink and enable the option. As noted above, Apple doesn't let you speak your reply so you can see/hear the messages but not interact with them. (You can read the message while driving, just listen to them).

Second, on my wife's 2015 Tahoe, she doesn't have the option for text messages even though it's the same year. Our rental Tahoe for last weekend *did* have the option though. So maybe earlier model 2015 Silverado's didn't have the functionality yet?

I've done all these things over and over. The fact they say the truck has text messaging is enough to make the claim that it should work with these smartphones. They need to say which phones may not work and let the consumer make their own informed decision I travel a lot and one of the reasons I went with this option was for the WiFi and texts integrated into their system. GM needs to be held accoutable for this deception or compensate it's customers.

If it wasn't an option on certain models then don't claim that it does. It's that simple

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE.
