4WD Button Replaced

Recommended Posts

Well, I just replaced the push buttons for the 4WD on my truck.  I was getting the Service 4WD light on the dash.  If that doesn't do it, I guess it goes into the shop.

Has anyone replaced the instrument cluster in their 'Rado?  I'm thinking of getting one with the Trans Temp guage.  Thanks.

The gage cluster swap is very easy and should only take 15 minutes.  However the new cluster won't have the correct miles on it.  You will either have to take (or send) both clusters to a speedometer shop and have the new one reprogrammed or have a certified sticker placed in your door jamb stating the cluster was changed out at xx,xxx miles.

TahoeMike,

There are only a handful of AC Delco electronic service centers around the country that can change the odometer reading.   Having worked with most of them I would recommend AJR International located in Elmhurst, IL (Chicago Suburb).  You can contact them at 800-428-0333 for pricing if they can help you direct. Contractual agreements between the AC Delco service centers and GM do exist so I am not sure they can help you directly without sending you through a GM dealer first.

I can’t believe you guys are having problems with buttons and service transfercase lights  :chevy:

Are you talking to me about the 4WD switch?  If you are it was very easy all you had to do was take off the dash bezel, unclip the switch and unhook the wire harness and than you can replace the switch and repeat the process. :chevy:

Hi guys,

I'm new to the board, this is my first post.  The reason I started checking this site out was because of the stinking Service 4WD light on my Sierra.  Sounds to me like it's the 2WD button on mine (or maybe it's the whole cluster???).  The tranny seems to be fine, just that annoying light.  4X4 works fine too.  Any ideas where I can get that button (or button cluster as the case may be), or do I have to order it from a GM dealer?

Great stuff on here by the way.  Hope that I can add some value.

SDSjr3,

Here is the part number for the switch: 15709327.  It is for trucks with Auto-trac.  I ordered mine from partzoneonline.com (a sponsor here) for about $44 after shipping.  Changing it out was easy and has cured the light (knock on wood!).
