Automatic vs Electronic Transfer Case

Why doesn't the Electronic Transfer Case offer an automatic mode. I have auto in my Envoy and I like using it when roads are slippery. Can you still get an automatic transfer case in our trucks? I see mentioned in the owners manual.

The one in my '14 1500 is auto, maybe your's is a different one being that you have a 2500.

From what I've read on the automatic transfer case is that it's not strong enough for the modern HD trucks. Too bad as it's a handy option to have.

Yes, the auto 4wd feature is nice. I use it fairly often when roads are patchy with snow or ice. It works really well. However, it doesn't seem strong enough to handle the abuse of heavy duty applications. Therefore, it's not available in the 2500HD trucks, only the 1500's.
