Water coming inside of windshield.

I searched but I'm on my phone so forgive me if this is being discussed...

Anyway, got in my truck today after work and there's a thin layer of ice on the inside of my windshield. It has no cracks and has never been replaced. Should I be concerned with this?

Ummm.. yeah. Extremely.

My truck regularly sees over night temps of -30 to -40 C, and have never seen that before.

Drive it to your dealer, and don't turn on the heat. Let them deal with the mess melting ice is going to do to your dash.

Windshield isn't sealed to the body right.

Take it to the dealer ASAP and make them fix it. Will probably need a need windshield.

Clean off any snow on your roof, and let the windows open a hair if it has to sit overnight and its not snowing or raining.

I'll try to get it in tomorrow...especially after starting it up just a minute ago to go to the gas station and within 3 minutes my check engine light illuminates. Thats what 43k buys you nowadays I guess.

Is there any sign of water at the headliner in that area. I've seen four of these new trucks so far leaking at the Onstar antenna. The antennas seem very sensitive to outside forces, like a car wash or snow removal... We usually replace the antenna and seal it up good.

I think you meant a "new" windshield.

Hi, I am sure this is from the onstar antenna. I highly doubt it is the windshield because you would have noticed it much earlier. The antenna seems to leak when water gets under it and freezes. This is what I noticed. Read all my post about this and this link as well. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/158522-water-leak-in-the-roof/

What year is your truck and build date?

Hi, It seems like you may have repaired some of these. I know there is a new part number for the antenna on my model. (" the antenna was changed in May 2014 from 22762364(old) to 23447542"). I only get the leak when water freezes under it and then it rains. For now I placed some butyl tape in the vent hole to stop water getting in.

Have you noticed any design change in the new antennas? Also, is the headliner easy to pull down without mucking anything up? Any other info you have on this would be great.

Thanks

I saw a new 2015 Silverado High Country 2500HD 4X4 Duramax on the local dealer's lot. $ 64,500 and it did not even have the sunroof option. I bet it has the same antenna seal as the "cheaper" trucks.

We just installed a new antenna on 15 High Country. After four part no. changes, I can't see any difference in the new one, other than it's black, not body color. I'm gonna keep looking, but it appears the '15 antenna is larger than the '14. The antennas are pretty easy to replace. Sorry, but that's all I got. I'll keep an eye on the situation though.

I appreciate the info guys. I still have been unable to take the truck in, just too busy with work. That's an issue I have with all these recalls and stuff going wrong. Yeah,it's all under warranty but some people don't have time to be at the dealership.

Check engine light is still on, sucks because it won't remote start now. I really wish there was a message center on our dash as an option to scroll through and see what the issue is.

You can press the onstar and get a diagnostic. It wont be as specific as a scanner, but will give you an idea what system is coding.

Don't pay for it...not worth it IMO.
