yea let me know what you find out, I am def interested in getting oem set up. Not having my truck I can't look at the interior or anything but I am def going for oem

Short version, its doable, but it is hella expensive.

You need at least two parts:

-The charging module itself, which is PN 23248791, MSRP $247.82

-The harness that powers it, which is PN 23124536, MSRP $36.96

You can cut the base of your existing lid to get it to mount, but it would be easier to get the different base. I didn't get the part number or price on that part, as I was already turned off by a $250 Qi charging coil.

Digging online, both parts can be had for ~$200, but still a little more than I care to spend on adding the feature at this time.

Hopefully this helps someone else though.

I *hope* people realize that the phone also has to be capable of wireless charging... This mod won't miraculously charge just any phone wirelessly. Phone must meet the wireless charging standard, like Qi. Otherwise, there are going to be some pissed off people ~$250 poorer...

Oh, I know. All three of our phones support Qi charging either by default or a backplate upgrade. Just laying your phone down on a pad to charge each day is nice, and I'd love to have that in the truck as well.

it isn't something I am going to go run and do as soon as my truck gets here (if it ever does) but I think it is the way of the future. I love my current old phone but will have to upgrade eventually. Not sure how long I plan on keeping the truck.

I'm mostly just a little irritated that the yukons have it but the sierras don't.

Oh, I know. All three of our phones support Qi charging either by default or a backplate upgrade. Just laying your phone down on a pad to charge each day is nice, and I'd love to have that in the truck as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you. I added a low-profile Qi module to my Galaxy Note 3 (couldn't use the official Samsung backplate, as I wanted to keep my Otterbox Commuter case). This absolutely is a feature I feel should be at least optional on higher trim levels (*cough*Denali*cough*), especially since the Yuk' gets it.

I was just throwing that out there because, as you may very well know, there are people that see a mod done by someone and doesn't know all the details and just think it just works. It was more for the uninformed/passer-by modder.

That looks location-specific, as in you have to have your phone in a specific place. I wonder how many coils there are on the OEM version. The charging pad I got for home has 3 over-lapped coils so the phone doesn't have to be centered. Any where on the pad will charge the phone.

The center console schematics given to me (both Yukon and Escalade) show the same part, and the box is drawn square. It looks like it sits more to the front if its drawn right, which matches up to the rubber mat both vehicles are using to tell you were to place your phone. My best is its single coil, given that I expect GM to go as basic as possible. I think the real value is it has built in voltage regulation and spike protection from the dirty 12v system since the harness is just two wires that go from the radio panel on the rear of the console to it. That's still not ~$200 in value though.

The voltage issue is easily solvable with cannibalizing a 12v lighter->USB adapter for its voltage circuit if you don't want to use a USB port.

I think I will dig more this weekend. I need a fun electronics project...

you think the sierra denali would have the same "plug" from the radio panel? Would even be better if you the screen will have the charging icon as well, but prolly won't happen

That's a good point, so far, the place that my note 4 fits naturally always hits the coil I guess, haven't had a problem yet.
