2014 Silverado Exhaust Mod

Hey Everyone,

 

Ive looked at the forum for a while now, but ive finally decide to make a username. Ive got a 2014 Silverado Z71. Ive installed a 2'' rough country leveling kit and husky liners so far.

 

I have a question regarding aftermarket exhaust. I want to add an muffler that gives a little more sound when on the gas. I have a chrome tip and would like to keep the factory pipe. Has anyone installed just a muffler?. I know there is a second muffler thingy right before the outlet and don't know what to do. I have welding capabilities but cant bend pipe, so I would just like to replace exhaust.

So you want to just replace the muffler? No problem, simply cut it out and weld a new one in. I would recommend something loud as the resonator will eat a lot of noise making a aftermarket muffler very quiet.

 

I recommend a quality stainless strait through muffler, something like a Borla or Magnaflow.

If you want the cheapest way from the clips I've heard with the resonator still there, a simple muffler delete sounds better than most replacement mufflers.

Good thinking! Just be sure to use stainless pipe and quality welds!

I'd recommend crawling under it with two 2" hose clamps and opening up the adaptive valve (just behind the muffler) and clamping it open, then see how you like it. In my opinion it don't get no cheaper than that if all you want is a throatier sound.

If you want "slightly louder than stock", I would say Magnaflow 22" or 18" (case). I had the Magnaflow 22" and it was exactly that. I could hear that it was just a little louder than stock when I accelerated.

 

I wanted it much louder, so I went with a 14" Magnaflow, flapper and resonator delete... pretty loud and lots of drone now.

 

(PS..... don't be advised by my greed for loud and drone-ful exhaust. I've been accused of having hearing loss. I wonder why???)

Muffler and valve cut out. Just put a straight piece of 3.5" in it's place.

Does anyone sell the pipe already bent flared with clamps. Did the doug thorley muffler delete on my 2010 2ss, was easy mod
