K&N air filter deal at AutoZone

K&N has years and years of selling filters yet they will not make any claims their filters and cold air intakes increase mileage. Now if the manufacturer can't substantiate it, how can it be possible a individual can contradict K&N?

 

Maybe the user thinks he is getting better mileage because he has changed his driving habits.

 

 

We certainly understand why it is theoretically possible for a consumer to experience a mileage increase after installing a K&N air filter or intake system, however, we do not go so far as to make a general claim that our air filters and intake systems will provide an increase in mileage.

Does anybody have a K&N filter? Did you see a difference in mpg?

Had one on my 2012 Silverado 5.3. No fuel mileage diff noticed. A little rumble at WOT is all I got for a few hundred bucks.

For just the filter... I installed the intake as well.

With all of the pressure put on auto manufacturers to increase fuel economy in vehicles, if simply changing a filter increased economy GM would have been installing these from the factory. ESPECIALLY on a truck or SUV. You don't think Ford or GM would jump at the opportunity to 1-up each other with something as simple as a filter? I say save your money.

Problem with CAI's is there are good compliment peice as in adding it to headers, blowers, real exhaust etc. By themselves they really are ineffective.

Who is installing two air filters a year? I get 20,000 miles out of a air filter...
