I tried the search function with no avail..

I know they make cat back systems, but what about just buying a muffler and using stock piping? I haven't seen part numbers for the muffler that would normally come with the cat back system. anyone know or have any ideas?

You can buy just the s-type muffler. I was thinking about doing the same thing you are wanting to do.

Do you know where or part number

Heres the part number: 40842S. Can buy them on borla's site or amazon. If you do this id be curious how it will sound.

is this basically the muffler that comes with the dealer installed borla? just with a single outlet instead of dual?

one of the reviews on amazon said they put it on their 2014 and had a lot of drone. Borla swears their systems dont have drone so now im confused.

The difference between the GM Borla and other versions is also the flapper valve to ensure no drone in V4.

Can you leave the stock flapper in?

Yes just cut the muffler of before the valve and weld the new muffler on. Now if the inlet and outlet size is 2 1/2" you will have to get the ends expanded to slip over the pipe.

I was thinking about getting the PROXS, had it on my Avalanche which also had V4 and it sounded great. They make it with 3 inch in and out too. They have 2 different part numbers with and without flange though, Indont really understand that part.

I purchased just a Borla 1 in 2 out at Jegs, 157-40349 for $112 and had a local muffler shop install it. They bent the pipes and finished it off with a pair of stainless tip... Still getting louder. Luv it!

BTW, they did a price match with Summit so I got it for less than the site price.

It has that helicopter sound to it... I did not install then flapper valve from OEM system. Doesn't bother me much... You can buy a Range and plug in to the OBI Port to eliminate the V4 mode or do a custom tune to eliminate sound.
