Enhancing Bose System

Recommended Posts

I hope to be taking delivery of my 2015 Sierra SLT soon and wondered what options exist on upgrading the Bose sound system. I was told by my dealer that he had heard the Kicker sub added to the Bose system and he said it was a huge upgrade. I am not interested in changing out speakers or changing the head unit since i have navigation. Thanks.

Don't take the word of the dealer, aka. salesman....test drive one with the system and see (hear) for yourself. The Bose system is pretty dammed good as it comes and likely would be cost prohibitive to do any serious quality upgrading to. At least that's my personal opinion.

you cant upgrade the system with the sub, only the base bose system. pretty sure the SLT has the fully loaded bose system.

The base system isn't Bose. The Bose system is an option on SLT.....there are SLT's without Bose.

My truck will have the Bose. I understand the Kicker sub and 200 w amp can be used to enhance the Bose system.

I have the 6 speaker system in my High Country and feel it sounds good, I didn't want the amp and speaker on the floor under the rear passenger seat because we put our luggage on the floor when the wife and I travel.

It depends on which Bose system you get:

The premium Bose® audio system features 6 speakers located throughout the cabin for rich, clear acoustics. It includes:

  • Active Noise Cancellation system when ordered with the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine and bucket seats
  • 7-speaker system with subwoofer when ordered with bucket seats

This feature is included in the SLT Crew Cab Value Package or the Texas SLT Crew Cab Value Package.

this is not true. you cannot mate the two together. its one or the other. I have the kicker in my 15 sierra and also I work as a salesman and used to be a tech.

There are 2 different system if you have the 7 speaker bose you buy the kit without the amp. If you have the 6.2 you can add the system if you unplug the rear noise cancellation mic.

Source assistant service manager in dealership and have talked to kicker.

Not true, I have the Kicker 200W Substage in my SLT Bose Equipped Truck. It sounds amazing, OP this is probably the route you should go.

That is what I think as well. Despite how Kicker may advertise compatability of the Kicker 200W Substage with the Bose......I knew I had read where some people have added this to their Bose systems and everyone has been complimentary of the add. It is good to hear that you have actually done it as well. Did you leave your console sub live and just add the Kicker package to it? Did you do the install or who did it for you? What was the biggest difference you noticed with adding the subwoofer and will it make any difference if I have the 6.2L with the noise cancellation built into the bose? Sorry for all the questions.

Didn't know the noise canceling mic could simply be unplugged, nice!

I am told the Danali has a special "surround sound", is the Kicker still available for this Bosr application?
