I have the last gen I phone, I can use the Bluetooth , the media and pandora app. I don't use the pandora app. usually it doesn't let me change songs on the steering wheel on the left side.

FYI: The left hand channel up/down steering wheel button will skip pandora, over Bluetooth and not connected via USB and I'm still on an iPhone 4 with iOS 6. Yah yah! I like the old school dark look, but the iPhone 6 is in the works next month and I'll have to get used to the "new" look. Also tried a friends iPhone 6 and it still has to be tethered to use the GMC pandora app. Android wins in this category.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S5 to stream Pandora through Intellilink and it often hangs. I found that switching to radio or XM for a little then switching back to Pandora resolves it and the app will load music. My buddy has a Samsung Galaxy S4 and Pandora works flawlessly in the truck with his phone. My phone just received another OS update but I haven't used it for Pandora yet. Maybe it will be better now.

I just connect mine through blu tooth. I can still skip songs with the left steering controls, I just don't see artwork on the screen and I can't use the thumbs up/thumbs down on the screen but I don't really care. Artwork isn't important and I find the variety on Pandora is better when I don't thumbs up songs, plus the touchscreen in the truck isn't as responsive as the screen on my iphone. I also don't want to always plug my phone in either. This will all be a moot point once Apple Car play comes out and GM starts using it. We'll see what the Galaxy guys say about that at the time haha

I can only get mine to work via bluetooth by starting Pandora on the Iphone and then hitting the media button. If I plug the phone in, it just says "no internet connection." I think I have a seperate issue going on,.

Does your phone ever ask to allow GMC Intellilink to connect to you phone and you have to press allow. If it doesn't thats where I would start to get the Pandora app to work. I'll take a picture next time it asks so you can see it. It seems it asks every time my phone gets restarted.

It doesn't ask me anymore, it used to though. I turned my pandora notifications off though to save battery maybe that's the problem, I'll turn them on and try it today.

To the newbs LOL: here is how to use an iPhone for pandora use on your truck:

 

To use the built in intellilink pandora app, an iPhone must be connnected through a USB port. It does not matter if you press the on screen app first or the phone app first then the on screen app, it just has to be plugged in. There are several reasons for this. 1) Apple does not allow 3rd party applications access to some root level functions, such as advanced controls over bluetooth. Hence the lack of pandora use while unplugged. 2) This is to maintain security with the device and avoid software issues that androids are plagued with. 3) I am pretty sure GM, Apple, & Pandora did not all come together on a way around this quirk. 4) On an iPhone when playing pandora you still have access to the rest of the phone, on an android when it is streaming pandora through the inellilink app the android pandora app has taken over the phone. I would rather have full access to the iPhone.

 

How to stream pandora through bluetooth:

 

1. Start pandora on your bluetooth connected iPhone. Press the MEDIA button until the iPhone connection displays

or

2. Press MEDIA until the bluetooth source is selected. Start any sound capable app on the phone, including pandora. Both ways also work for YOUTUBE, GAMES, other RADIO APPS, etc etc etc....

Ok you need to eliminate where the issue lies, its either the truck, the cable you are using, or the phone.

 

Do this, plug in the phone via usb and try to play songs stored on your phone through the usb sound source under "media". If you don't have any songs buy or download one. If it plays there, switch to the pandora app. If it does not play the pandora app, there is either an issue with your internet connection, the pandora app on your phone or on the truck.

From what I can tell it has to be the truck. I've used 4 different cables, 2 different kinds and 3 iphones (one - 5, two - 5s). Weird thing... it works in my driveway when I'm in wifi range. But when I pull away and leave it stops. It's kind of like it goes in out of service but the phone is playing it just fine and it works when I use bluetooth and hit media. I'll try playing some music off the phone. Not sure if I have any though.

I had problems with my Bluetooth and Pandora cutting out, had my dealer look into it and they did PI1126F update and it has worked much better. I have a 14 Sierra SLT AT.

I finally got around to posting this picture of the notification that I get regularly to allow my iPhone 4 to communicate with IntelliLink, tethered of course with the USB.

Judging by the slider symbol to unlock your phone, your iPhone software is at least 2 years old and maybe over 5 or 6 updates behind where iOS software is now. Try updating your iPhone and then see what happens.

BVONSCOTT was right on with his instructions on how to use the app. The trick is to launch both the app from your phone AND from the Home screen in your truck once the phone is plugged in. When I got the truck all I had to do was plug the phone in and hit the app on the home screen, so somewhere along the way that changed. Don’t know if it was Pandora or GMC, but it changed. And the instructions on Pandora’s site [https://help.pandora.com/customer/portal/articles/190368-pandora-and-gmc] have a step to do both.

 

So there you go…hope this helps.

      Wow I'm in a pickle. (Broke down truck) and a story.

      "Teardown" is complete. Head surfaces are clean and ready, new intake is prepped and ready. Coolant drained and water pump is removed, radiator is removed, new hoses and pump are ready.   The replacement intake is also from a '95 (with I think 260k, the odometer said). Noticeably less pitting where it covers the rear coolant passages. I'm not sure if that's a tribute to more frequent use, more frequent coolant changes/upkeep, or if the intake was machined at some point. But it appears I found a good one.   My coolant hoses were original, and the lower hose still retained the factory spring inside. It's not really rusty, but it's got deposits all over it. Unsure if I should re-install it (will thoroughly clean it first). Someone said hose technology has gotten better since 1995 (has it?) and I don't need the spring. I think modern EPDM is what made those hoses last from 1995-2026, so it's a question of how much suction can the water pump really pull, and will it collapse the hose without a spring?   I'm stopped and waiting for parts, however.   When I first brought the truck home, the fan was intermittently hitting the radiator shroud. I could see someone had monkeyed with the shroud (put a bunch of cardboard as a spacer between the upper/lower shroud halves. Someone said the motor mounts have likely failed and the engine has sagged. I wasn't sure I believed that. The engine is really solid in its mounts: To remove the old intake I *just* nearly permanently welded to the heads with freshly cured RTV and gasket snot two weeks ago, I literally had to use the arms on my lift and a chain with a bolt attached to the intake to pull it loose. It almost picked the front of the truck off the ground before ....scuuuuuuuuuuup.... I could actually hear the gaskets tearing and it broke loose and the whole truck settled back down. Motor barely moved.   SO, those parts I'm waiting on... The lower radiator mounts/bushings had completely failed. The radiator needs to be insulated from the rad support, and the bushings help the rad stand at the correct height. The plastic "baffle" was also destroyed at some point. Someone had attached the shroud to it incorrectly, overlapping a joint that should have been underlapped, creating another suspect issue potentially causing things to hit the fan. Broken tabs, side is busted off, and it's perma-formed/bent where it was jimmied incorrectly.   The baffle? Unobtainum. Long since discontinued from GM, of course. Aftermarket/capa/chinese? Also unobtanium. In GM's infinite wisdom, it appears there are at least two different variations whether the Blazer is 2 or 4 door, and I can't yet tell if they shared the same part with the S-pickups. Plan B, if I can't find a viable used one, will be to create a bracket to re-assemble the critical joint I need to seal a gap with the shroud. But that will bug me, it won't be...perfect.   The water pump bolts appear to have been installed with...plumber's putty. I guess, sure, if it works...? I've found a few "backyard fixes" like that. Someone's been here before....   If I can't find someone to jam bamboo under my fingernails to fill my free time this week I think I'll install the driver's power window motor and replace the rear door speaker that's inop. I've got a genuine GM "9.5" ohm working replacement. Why GM used a non-standard resistance....nevermind. Of course they did, you can get more sound from a cheap factory amp that way.   And the saga goes on...

      I started my install this weekend. Everything was pretty straight forward but I ran into one issue with running power through the firewall. The nipple grommet on my High Country already has a small harness running through it - has anyone else ran into this issue? And on the engine bay side, does the wire basically just penetrate the factory wiring boot? I did this on my '22 Trail Boss and it seems much easier but thats been a few years. My other thought would be possibly drilling a new hole adding a rubber grommet just to the lower left of the factory hole. Thoughts?   Has anyone used a T-harness off the Bose amp and obtained power from there? It seems a little odd that such a small amp needs 3 power leads

I buy all teh filters for  our three vehicles once or twice a year. Have always run NAPA Gold on everything I own....I buy it thru my Son's account for his business-which he has a Heavy Equipment repair shop-one reason he uses NAPA so much-they have such a full line of coverage for just about anything/anywhere- He gets s  good discount because of volume bought.
