Salt won't come off running boards

Hey guys, i just cleaned up my Truck today and while polishing the running boards, the front of the running boards have a thick film of salt on them that i cannot get off. I tried washing them again, using chrome polish. It won't come off. anyone have any ideas on how to clean these off?

 

These running boards are only 4 months old.

What chrome polish did you use? Have you tried P21S?

do you use quick detailer on it like on the body with claybar?

Yes I would use that or a fluid made for claying

try and use ZEP for rust and calcium, you can buy it from Home depot, I get the same thing on my running boards and ZEP takes it right off with a simple wipe.

I've tried Noxon 7 on chrome wheels, it did the job.
