Want opinion on something

Ok after seeing a member's new truck which is a black 2015 Silverado Custom Sport I started to think about the Z71 emblems on his front doors. I was thinking about replacing the Z71 decals on my bed with those door emblems.

Does anybody think that would be a cool thing. I know some people want to remove emblems and not add them, but this is just taking a factory existing decal with an actual emblem. From what I can tell, the emblems are a little smaller than the decals, but would still not look too out of place size wise. That's just a guess from looking at it, it could be the same size, I'm not sure.

Also the best way I can think of to line them up right would be to take blue painters tape and line the tape up with the top and left side of Z and put the emblems in the same place.

So what are ya'lls opinion on doing this. Would it look better or make it look kind of tacky or too different. I know doing something different doesn't equal better, but I don't think anybody else would want to do this and I think an emblem looks better than just a decal.

This is the emblem off of ebay, it's a little over 10" long. They did add a pic of the truck with the emblem so you can see the size in relation to the truck.

Do what you want! I would say debadge your "SILVERADO" emblem and put it there like in the pics in the listing. It looks like your truck is black (hard to tell on tapatalk) but I think it'd look good!

I like the subtle Z71 emblems on my '15 Sierra; they're mounted on the fenders around the corner closest to mirror housing. Personally, I wouldn't spend money on an emblem. That's enough ground to, either, leave the ones already there alone or simply take them off.

I say go for it as long as the emblem could or should have been there in the first place and, of course, your truck has what it is advertising.

I bought a new Denali yesterday and I ordered the 4x4 front fender emblems for it. The Denali has no call-outs at all, and the Z71 package is not available because of the Magne-Ride.

The problem with that is that it would look like I was trying to turn mine into a Custom Sport, plus it would be too easy to just put it where it goes on the Sport lol.

The thing is that I don't want to stick it on the fender since that's what they did with the Sierras. All I would be doing is switching out simple decals with actual emblems. From a distance it would look the same (emblem shiny though of course) but up close of course you'd see it's a real emblem. Also if I just took the Z71 decals off completely from just the outside it would look like I changed the grille to the Z71 grille. It would still look factory, just more than just a decal.

The benefit to the sticker too is it's easier to wash, wax and polish over vs an emblem. Just as a stand alone door emblem looks pretty good. Got me contemplating it. I'll probably wait til someone debadges them as $80 is a bit steep.

Those emblems do look nice! I think they would look good in place of the stickers if they are almost the same size but you should try it so we can all see lol

I probably will but it won't be right now. Maybe wait til it gets warm. From the looks the emblems do look a tad smaller but still similar enough where it wouldn't look out of place.

I know an emblem is a little tougher to wash, but I don't mind the emblems I do have so I don't think it would be a big difference. I'm not going to let the reason of just easier to wash to be the only reason to not try it and it also won't be the reason I use if I decided to debadge which I'm not going to do.

Well I went ahead and ordered 2 of them to replace the decals on the bed. I'll post pics after I put them on. They're not real cheap but I saw a decal selling for $20 so you get better looks and a real emblem for the bed with these. Harder to wash but I'd rather have a real emblem than just a decal like it's always been. Now I guess I'll have to buy a roll of blue painters tape so I align them right.

Sounds like your on the right path with the tape. That's how I did my fender emblems on my old Z06. I must have measured and used a level over 1000 times. Interested to see the end result though.

I got them in the mail today but I'm waiting for it to warm up for me to do it. It sucks to only have 1 day off a week and work til 7 during the week so not much time to do anything to the truck. Have to wait til Saturday evening or Sunday lol. Might not be until next weekend before I get the chance. I think I'm going to run the top along the top edge of the decal and then run the tape alone the front edge of the tailight so the emblems are at the same height as the decals but the back end of them line more up to the tailights. The factory decals are further towards the back. I'll just have to take the time to get them right. I know the top edge won't be a problem, just lining up the rear edge of both sides will take the time.

What do you do that keeps you so busy?

Salesman at the local dealership. 9-7 during the week and 10-4 on Saturdays. Right now there's a sale so we're staying an hour later and today we came in an hour early and went home 2 hours later at 6.

Had time before it got dark and was warm enough to do it. Did both sides in 20 minutes. I think it came out great. From a certain distance it looks factory so it doesn't look like I just added emblems on it. I like actual emblems over decals.
