hey guys

do I have a good one for you

so I bought my 82k beauty last year around June and about December I recived the recall concerning a loose house clamp and some harness rubbing on something or other , anyways

while I was up north Quebec on a snowmobile trip my truck started throwing codes , emission system error 285km before 104km max speed

odd

I kept driving and the code would go away , come back for about 3 thousand km in the end it stayed and I got fed up and brought it to a local dealer ( also to do scheduled ) ALSO I have a vibration around 110kms

this is were it gets scary

they tell me they will need one day to do the diagnosis and recalls and I should have it by next morning no problem

3 days later no truck , and they didn't have a loaner either ! they rented me a shitty D***e from a rental place and I have to drive that gas guzzler to work

finally they tell me they had to replace pumps , hoses , EGR coolers , Knock sensors , all kinds of crap but hey no problem right ? and they tell me a vibration is normal for a HD TRUCK

wrong

when I get home after picking up the truck @ 8 pm I notice that no one filled up the prestone in the truck and it started to over heat

weird maybe they just forgot

then the next morning in the sunlight it hit me

my paint , front grille , front head light , and rear right dually fender

scratched , scratched , scratched and some one drove into it

you can bet I was back there Monday morning with the truck

they told me they will replace the grille but not the head light and that I could just polish the paint

I said that's great but I'm not polishing crap , I wanted them to do it they said no

but instead offered me a deal on the new towing mirriors from the 2015.5s

I said maybe and that we will see when the grille gets here

but I was livid about the paint , it's worn down to the white on the corners and there was a scrtch on the hood bout 2 inches long and down to the bare metal

few days later I bring the truck back to the dealer with confidence that they won't be fresking animals and ask them to put my summer tires on the rims

but guess what they scratched my polished aluminum rims to shit ! , which you guessed it I only saw when I got home

this time I was pissed cause my front right tire couldn't hold air cause there is a crack in the rim near the air nipple I also noticed the bend in my Fender this time

but here is the real clincher

I poped the hood to check the oil level ( which is way to high )

and I see the intake boot is disconnected!!!!!!!

I drove 3 k kms in the dusty salty roads !

I've had enough with this dealer !

I called gm customer care and I got a very nice lady on the phone , can't remever her name for the life of me I think it was Natalie

and she took note of everything and is transferring my file to a senior GM ambassador to see what we can do

so list of problems

Scratched /worn black paint

scratched head light chrome

scratched chrome grillie

low prestone /over heat

scuffed aluminum rims

bent body

tire won't hold air

vibration around 100km -120kms

INTAKE BOOT DISCONNECTED

steering wheel plays 1.5 inches to left and 1.5 to right

I have to hold the wheel to the right or else it will drift to the left when it's stright

I LOVE my chevy but I think this thing is a lemon

what would you guys do ?

sorry for the long post

I'd either want them to buy it back from me, or fix everything that they screwed up and give me a lifetime warranty on the engine due to the air intake issue.

Posted

that's what I was thinking , I'm waiting for the senior ambassador to get back to me on Monday or Tuesday

I would prefer a new truck over a life time warranty due to the down time :/

we trade the trucks every 2-3 years due to mileage we are diehard GM clients with 8 vehicles on file since the first duramax

I like my chevy but I don't like this dealer and I am very dissatisfied with the treatment at that dealer

Posted

I wouldn't want that truck... Lemon it or try and work something out with th dealer. The fact they they scratched is insane.. I would not settle for that

Posted

thank you !

I did not think it was normal service work either >.<

I told them hey you scratched it and they agreed they scratched the grill but not the paint !

they said so what it's a truck they get scratched !

I said why are you kidding me I paid 83k for this frresking thing !

so what if I tow or work with it I don't go bush whacking , I got a 1990 1500 6.2 for that !

I'm trying to work something out with the GM senior ambassador

hey guys

Update

04-06-15

the senior Gm rep called me today @ 9 am like they said they would and told me this

all my problems are between the dealer and me and that she would attempt to act like a mediator

I told her are you kidding me

the dealers represent Gm

she said they are owned so there for Gm is not responsible for what they do

told the lady what bout the intake boot , that's going to affect the bumper to bumper warrenty is it not ?

what if my motor goes caboom because the dealer messed up

who's probelm is it then

she couldn't answer me

now we wait I'm supposed to get a call tomorrow or the day after

sigh

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
