2003 chevy 1500 ly6 swap

I'm new just wonderen what you guys think I should do with my ly6. I've purchased one complete and I want to hop it up a little to go in my truck and I'm not ahure what mods I want to go with. The truck is lifted 6 inches on 35s and 18s 456 gears built transmission and I'm running a programer on the stock 5.3 as of now with a single inlet duel outlet flowmaster 40.

It will not work with the 2003 wiring or ecu. Sell it and by an LQ4 or LQ9 for your 03

Im not familier with what a ecu is. And even if I have the harness and computer? And I'm getten everything for 1400 ready to drop into a truck with 80k on it. I didn't think that was bad deal

ECU is computer, but that engine needs 2. The one that comes with it controls the engine, the one in your truck controls the current engine and trans. The one with the LY6 wont control a trans. Also the 4L60E will be a crapshoot with that engine. I have the LQ9 which puts out more power and about the same torque as the LY6, or less HP but more torque depending on what the LY6 came from. I am lucky my 4L60E is still together. So you will need a trans controller or a 4L80E, new crossmember, new driveshaft, transfer case, and trans controller. and new motor mounts. Im just making sure you are aware, this is a bigger project than you think if you want to do it right. You will be better off money and time wise if you sell that and buy a LQ4 or LQ9 long block because those will drop in, and only need a tune to run. Everything external on the Gen 3 engines will transfer including intake and exhaust manifolds. You will eventually need to handle the trans either way, but a slightly built 4L60E or stock/slightly built 4L65E will work and swap right into place with only a tune update. Also with a standalone controller i dont believe the trans can be tuned.

I really appricate it man I would have got in a lot more then I coulda handled with that motor. I still might buy it and try to pute it in somethen els. But what do thos go for complete? And were could I find a lq9

Ebay or wrecking yards. You can use hollander to locate one. Complete normally they are sub 2k. I got a long block and it was $1500

What if I just built the motor that's in it I mean rn it will run 127 like it sits the programer limits it to 135 but I just want somethen that will get up there quick I don't care to run any faster. I just hate to build a motor that has over 200k on it

You will dump over 2k into the 5.3 to get it to LQ9 power just in heads, cam, headers, and custom tune

One mod looked one up when he was trying to figure out what he wanted to do. He left links somewhere. LQ4 is 325/365. They are also easier to find and love boost
