Fuel Door Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hello, new guy here I had a 14 reg cab W/T but ended up upgrading to a 15 2LT Z71 double cab. Anyway I noticed the recoil from the assembly of the Silverado's fuel door is ridiculous and actually looks dented so I am looking for a replacement.

For those who have replaced theirs, What did you get? How was the Assembly? Anybody else notice the bad recoil on their fuel door? I noticed it but it could be because of my extensive automotive production and manufacturing background.

I did a search for this topic and found nothing so sorry if there is something on this already.

Have you tried to use the power of your 3 year 36k warranty and show the dealer your issue and get a new one?

I would if it were something that needed to be warrantied... It is just the way they are assembled, for the double cabs anyway.. There is nothing a new door would fix.. If you look at them in the sun light after a wash you will see what I am talking about.

Do you have photos so we can see what you are talking about?

I will take some when we get some sunlight it would be hard to see without it. But if you look at the fuel doors in the sunlight and watch the way the door refracts the sunlight you can easily see the recoil from the assembly process.

It was so bad when I noticed it I thought my truck got hit, then I looked at other trucks here at work and they are the same way it is more noticeable the brighter the color.. My truck just so happens to be victory red.

I couldn't find the pictures. But I'll take your word for it. My truck is a standard bed so I'll look at it. But the choices that are obvious are: bitch it to the dealer and let their body shop fix it. Fix it yourself/or body shop. Put some kind of silly aftermarket chrome/black door on there.
