It seems like part of my exhaust pipe is broken of due to rust right after the last muffler I think, but the muffler have two exits and I have problems finding parts thats gonna fit.

Its a 2008 silverado 1500 with 5.3 flex fuel. Is there anyone out there that knows what kind of part it is I need ? I just got back from autozone, but the part they wanted me to get don't seem to be the right one :/

Thanks in advance

In my opinion I'd spend the money & get a Corsa cat back system online somewhere. Stainless steel - will last just about forever.

I've had that same exhaust on my truck for 8 MA winters and 73k miles - still perfect, except for the clamps .. but it's still holding together.

The description of the existing exhaust does not appear to match stock exhaust.

If you have two pipes from the muffler outlet end then you have either an aftermarket cat back system, or a custom muffler with two tailpipes. No auto parts outlet, or even the dealer will be able to get a replacement tailpipe. A muffler shop is your best (and likely only) choice for the repair.

You may want to check the muffler for a brand name stamped into shell of muffler.

Seeing that it rusted off, I'm guessing it's either a Gibson or Flowmaster. They're both 3 year exhausts here in the Northeastern USA.

I just cut & chucked a Flowmaster off an '11 Silverado last month. I had welded the tailpipes back to the muffler as best I could last year. Made a mountain of weld balls, lol - couldn't run a bead at all - would just burn right through. She got a year out of it, at least.

I went to a muffler shop the other day and asked if they could fix whats missing and they would charge about $200 for it. Is that a good price ?

This one of those things that you first need to be happy with the price. No matter what anyone says, you are the one paying to get something repaired on your vehicle. On the internet what usually happens in instances with your question is that one or two will say it is good price, and you will get it done. The instant you post that you got it fixed for $200, everyone and their brother will all of a sudden have a better, cheaper place to get it done. Keep in mind that what you will pay in Dayton will not be the same as what someone will pay in Little Rock.

On stuff that I know little to nothing about, I will get two prices, without telling either place what you are doing. That will tell you what the job usually runs, in your area. As a yard stick, I paid $600 for a Magnaflow one inlet, two outlet, stainless muffler, with 2 custom stainless tailpipes, and two Magnaflow polished stainless tips. All joints were welded, then all welds were cleaned with wire wheel to remove any bits of slag and/or trash in the weld. Sprayed all welds with etching primer, then two coats of VHT flat gray header paint. Make sure you get seamless pipe. The weak point on most stainless exhaust is the welding. The cheaper stainless pipe come with a seam where the joined the two ends of the flat sheet of stainless that was rolled up and welded together. Same concept as rolling papers.

I think that's a bit steep considering you can get an entire cat back system off eBay for $300 or so, clamps and all. It's not gonna last long in salt though, but neither will the clamps.

I think my exhaust was well into the mid $800's shipped here - but this was 8 years ago. I can guarantee there's been a price increase since. Had I spent $300 on a cheap exhaust, in 8 years I'd be halfway rusted through my 3rd exhaust system. Would've cost the same as one GOOD system that after 8 years still has at least that many left in it. The way things are looking it will probably outlast the truck.
