I'm torn like you. I have a Corsa cat-back on my wife's Yukon and love the sound and looks. Corsa has by far the best tips IMHO. I just want some quiet time sometimes too, especially on long trips. But I also like to hear the engine roar every now and again. I was pleased that the 6.2L is louder than the silent 5.3L I had before, but it doesn't really scratch the itch to get an exhaust upgrade. I'd love to hear a 6.2L with the GM Borla system in person. But I'd have to find a way to get the Corsa tips still.

Just finished my install, all went well until the end

Can't seem to figure out how to adjust the tips so they are level with the ground and not leaning toward the rear

How hard was it to take the old muffler and put in the new one? Did you have to cut or was it bolt on?

I really want a duel exhaust system nut I am not that great with cars so I am not sure I go to a dealer or do it myself.

Speaking for myself - my conversion went very well. No cutting what so ever. Getting the existing exhaust out is pretty straight forward. If doing it alone, you will need a jack stand to hold up one end while you disconnect all the rubber mount points. Then unbolt the clamp up by the cat.

I jacked up the frame as high as it would go to create as much space between the under side of the truck and rear axle. Then you pull it all back in one piece and turn it 90% - you have to pull it back far enough to clear a cross member up front. Then lower it to the ground and pull it out forward just behind the passenger front tire. Not difficult at all.

The Corsa system goes in in four pieces (counting the tips -and agree - they make the best looking tips!). I put everything in using all the existing rubber mount points and kept all the clamps loose. Then I checked all my clearances to make sure nothing will bang on the cross member etc. and began tightening up. Tips were super easy to adjust and snug up under the rear quarter panel behind my mud flap.

All in all - did it in an hour and a half or less.

Corsa tips are nice..I almost pulled the trigger on them but since I'm doing my version of a gm borla exhaust.. I couldn't see myself putting corsa tips with a borla muffler.. I mean who cares but it would bother me.. so I choose these tips.. got them from summit.. yes identical to corsa.. summit makes them.. alot cheaper.. great looking tips.. nice welds.. no flaws..

I usually remove stock cat bak and install aftermarket in the garage just like others have mentioned. But I cut the stock exhaust behind the muffler for ease of removal. Installed Corsa myself and it was a breeze as described above. But, I decided to change to the GM Borla cat back and it was just too hot out (100+ degrees), so I went down to my local muffler shop and in ½ hour, they had the Corsa off and GM Borla installed. IMO, a good $100 investment. And they let me inspect it on the lift before accepting the work. So, there's another perspective for you.

So how do you like the Borla exhaust compared to the Corsa? What tips did you go with?

Thanks.

I am a big fan of Corsa - have used Corsa on several vehicles (older Silvy, CTS-V, Trans Am, GTO), but most have been the "touring" sound except for my '04 GTO which just has to be loud. The Corsa for the '14 Silvy was just too loud for me cruising on the toll road at 80+ (yes, the speed limit is 80 and 85). By comparison, my son has a '10 Silvy with Corsa. Sitting side-by-side, my '14 Silvy Corsa was noticably louder at idle and at the same RPM rev than his (in fact, he liked mine better than his!). The fit and finish was excellent. I would recommend a tune with the Corsa or at least the Range V8 unit - when in V4, there was a definite helicopter like "chop sound".

The GM Borla fit and finish is also excellent, although not as polished (except for the tips). It is the touring sound so at start up and WOT, it is nice and loud. At idle, it is a nice growl. But going 80+ on the toll road, I just hear a nice hmmm. Between the cat and the muffler, it has a better quality flapper valve than stock with a loop that helps with flow and makes sure there is always flow and no V4 "chop" or drone.

If you are younger or just like the muscle car sound, Corsa is awesome. If you are older (like me) and like more noise than stock, but tame on the highway, the GM Borla is just right.

Thanks. I have a Corsa on my 03 Yukon and love it, but I definitely want some peace on the highway. I'm thinking the Borla will be perfect. I want a mild rumble, nothing loud unless I'm on the throttle. Are those the Borla tips? Did they come with the kit or cost extra?

Yes, they are. They are ordered separately from the cat back as a pair. You can either order the chrome or black version.

I just flipped a thousand miles and am going to go ahead and put exhaust on my 5.3. Is the Borla really worth $1100? It's what I want to do but dang that's high for exhaust.

It's hard to answer your question because it depends on your perspective. I wanted a HIGH QUALITY cat back with a nice growl at idle, no drone, no V4 chop, and nice hum at highway speeds. Did I mention that I also wanted a high quality unit with a great fit that I could install myself? You can read all kinds of comments in the exhaust thread of folks eliminating the resonator or muffler and trying this muffler or that and the cost is a lot less...but that's not for me. Although I tried the Corsa first and then went to GM Borla, I personally think systems like this are worth it.

Specifically, is the GM Borla really worth it - YES, for me. And I was convinced by several others that installed them. I hope that helps. By the way, it does have a million mile warranty if that helps...did I mention high quality?

Newbie here, I didn't want to start a new thread so figured I would put this here...

I have been wanting to put some type of exhaust on my truck that doesn't void the warranty. I have been reading there is a valve in the pipe for when the AFM kicks in. Would I still need to keep that on with an after market muffler? I was thinking a flowmaster 50 series or borla. Just not sure which borla I should use. I don't want any drone or bluetooth issues and I def don't want it loud as hell. Just a nice rumble while start and normal driving. It can open up if I open the throttle. Thanks!

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
