BF KO2 or Nitto TG G2

I had 275/60/20 KO2's put on my Sierra last week. 2" level kit. Rides smooth in city or on the highway. Maybe a 1 mpg hit.

Could have gone bigger but I didn't want to ruin the nice ride the truck has.

I run K02's as well.

285/65/18 +18 wheel offset. No rubbing, no trimming necessary. My truck has a 2" level.

I had this setup right when I picked it up from the dealer so I don't have stock wheels and tires to compare to, but my mileage is atrocious.

15mpg highway and I'm lucky if I get 12mpg in the city.

I don't drive overly fast either.

I think someone is finally telling the truth!!! Lt and e tires will rob your mpg more than one mpg, imo.

Yeah, hearing some of the outrageously good mileage claims from some people on this forum had me pretty upset with the mileage I was getting out of my truck. I wish I would have kept the stock wheels and tires for a bit just to see exactly how good the mileage was on the truck.

Load range C, D, & E LT tires are going to be much heavier than stock, especially when you upsize and that kills gas mileage more than anything. My 2012 F150 work truck came with the base 17 inch steel wheels and small Hancook "AT" tires and the truck got around 19.0 mpg in the summer. Put on a set of bigger Goodyear Kevlar LT AT E range tires and my mpg went down to 16.5 mpg and that was with the corrected speedo. When I finally break down and get a set of tires I will probably try to find a P rated tire in an aggressive looking tread, maybe the Cooper ATP's.

^ Truth! I'm running E rated 275/65/R18 Hankook ATM's and my lifetime average is hovering arounf 17.7 without having corrected the speedo. I'm just now seeing a 400 mile average approaching 20mpg and that's only because I've been doing a lot of interstate commuting back and forth from Emory hospital in Atlanta. That being said I'm glad for the tradeoff - the tires feel bombproof, especially when towing.

Maybe the people claiming only 1mpg hit don't have a level/lift and stuck to the stock or near stock tire size?

Dunno.... I'm at stock Z71 height and only went up to 32". I suspect between personal perception, and local driving conditions and habitats its really hard to get a good idea beyond just a broad generalization. Could be wrong, its been known to happen frequently. :dunno:

I bought my truck with the stock 18s and GY tires. I never really got a base line for MPGs with those tires, but have seen good numbers from others who have posted. I didn't buy a truck for MPGS though (but I also don't want 10mpg), I wanted the truck to look and feel like a truck.

Here are my mpgs by tank, I keep track in fuelly.

275/65/18 Cooper ATPs. 15.7, 15.1, 15.9, 15.9, 16.4.

275/55/20 Cooper ATPs. 17.1, 16.2, 19.9, 15.9, 16.8, 15.9, 17.1, 16.1, 17.5, 17.0, 17.3, 16.4, 16.6, 17.4, 16.8, 18.0, 15.9, 17.2

275/60/20 Cooper ATPs (with 2" Level). 17.5, 17.0, 17.3

Yes, 275. Made a typo

I'd get the 275/65's if I were you. Ever time I see irish4life8911's truck I wish I had!

I was debating on getting some 275/60r20 since I need new tires and I plan to level it later. Do you have any rubbing issues with the 33s on stock height?

Nope

... along w/ putting bilstein 5100 shocks on to give the truck a few inches of lift without messing up ball joints etc w/ a cheap lift kit.

Lol, so spending more money to achieve 2" of lift at the exact same point with exact same geometry is easier on the ball joints?

Sorry for thread jack, this struck me as funny so I couldn't help myself.

Back on topic now...

I'm running out 275/60r20's ko2's on my 15 crew cab slt z71 and I'm averaging 17.6 according to fuelly over about 5,000 miles and the best tank I've seen was 18.9. My truck is still stock height though. I didn't drive it but about 1 day until I put the bfg's on it so didn't really get a good baseline. I do a lot of highway and interstate driving. I'm super pleased with my fuel mileage compared to the 13' f150 cc xlt with the 3.5 ecoboost I traded in which I averaged 15.5 over 20,000 miles with the same tires.

I have a best of 22.6 with 275/60-20 KO2's plus a RC 2" level and no air dam. Probably didn't even put 100 miles on with the stock tires so I can't say how much worse they are.

I also have AFM turned off. 6.2/8spd 3.42
