Has anyone tried peeling off the lawyer-speak decals off the new '15 sun-visors? I've done this on the old truck and my Camaro but the material used on my '15 Sierra 1500 All Terrain looks like it might prove problematic.

 

Pardon if this has been discussed before. Did a search with no results.

Ive heard they can be a nightmare to take off. I am trying to find a place that will make a custom decal that will fit directly over it with black background and red text SIERRA to match my all terrain red stiching and logos.

Same kind was on my '10 and I didn't pay attention before trying to remove it...horrible idea. It just came apart when I started peeling and left a definite imprint/residue where it did come off. I quit trying after it happened on the first corner I tried to remove.

 

I've just decided to try and ignore them on my '14.

I did it on my GTO just have to use a heat gun and pick at it and it will come off. For the residue i used Googone and a shop rag and it was gone. I will eventually do it to the truck.

I have used this company for decals that cover the visor sticker on my 09 and my 14. You need to order the 8.75 x 1.8 size. It says 2007 and up but I ordered them and they fit exact on my 14. I took the visor off and cleaned the area with alcohol before applying the decal. http://www.streamlinedesign.com/visor-graphics/custom-visor-graphics-gm-pair/

I bought a set of cover decals for the Corvette a couple years back. There were various styles available, I picked a carbon fiber weave pattern. There is probably a bowtie available too. I need to measure the truck decals to see if they are the same size. If so you can search the Corvette parts sites to find the decals.

I wouldn't pull It off personally, either cover it or live with it.

 

Your truck would be recalled if the lawyer speak label fell off due to a adhesive failure from the factory. This has happened on Camaro for 2013 and 2014. There was a Federal/Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (MVSS) 208 compliance issue because of this and they were recalled. Just some food for thought.

I peeled mine off my 15 Silverado. I peeled it off then used a heat gun to get it hot enough to rub residue off. Just take your time and don't get it to hot. I suggest putting heat gun on it for a few seconds, then try and rub residue/glue off, if it doesn't come off heat for another few seconds and try again.

 

I'm out of town or else I'd take pictures, I will when I get home.

Thanks for the replies folks. I don't think I'll attempt this particular fabric. It looks a little too "fuzzy" to release these types of very thin, very sticky decals. Would like to find a pair of decals with the correct GMC logo or Sierra script, not just plain text.

 

Alternately a funny faux warning label. Any ideas/suggestions?

Good idea, I like the way mine turned out but i wouldn't do it again. On the second sunvisor I messed it up with the heat gun(doesn't take much). So I had to get another, luckily they are around a hundred dollars for another. Sucked having to get another. What sucked even more was I then had one sunvisor without label and one with label. So I very carefully took the label off the new sunvisor to match. All turned out well and like it, but again I wouldn't do it again

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      Seems to be Missing a lot of Updates

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.

      Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.

      That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.
