FYI, aluminum a-arms and knuckles are indeed superior to steel. Lower weight components improve the ride by lightening the load the shock sees during rebound. Hence why most manufacturers have gone/are going to aluminum. Ford has been doing it since 2004 I believe on the F-150. The new colorado/canyon is also aluminum.

 

The reason for manufacturers of leveling/suspension lifts needing to know if it's aluminum or steel is simply to supply the right length bolts with the kits for the strut to lower a-arm connection. Aluminum is thicker so it requires longer bolts.

'15 Crew Cab SLE All-Terrain Short box and mine are Aluminum.
