New 15 All Terrain control arms ?

Just picked up my 15 AT with Z71 off road package . Noticed my control arms are not aluminum . Was my understanding the Z71 had these ?

My Silverado Z71 aren't aluminum either. There was a long thread about this and I don't think there's any common denominator as to what got the aluminum ones.

no I think someone finally found a common denominator to this answer. I think all / certain double cabs did not get the alum control arms or something like that... most if not all CC's have alum or maybe just 4wd CC's. I don't know exactly as you can see but it's something along those lines.

 

FWIW I have a 14 Sierra z71 4x4 and I have the alum control arms

I also have the aluminum control arms on my 2014Silverado Z71 4X4. When I took her in to get the lift ordered I had more then one tech run out to my truck to check and see weather or not they were aluminum. So obviously there is no common denominator.

Crew cab short box has aluminum and crew cab with 6' box has steel. Not sure their reasoning on this. It seems easier to find after market suspension parts for the steel components, I wish mine were steel

There is zero Rhyme or reason to the UCA controversy. I have been following this issue this entire year and there is never replication in any way to show pattern. Owner just walks outside with a magnet and checks for him or herself and verifies what they have. Neither version of UCA is better than the other. So in my opinion just knowing what your truck has will allow you to modify with confidence or not depending on your liking.

What I find a little funny is that every lift kit (not leveling kit, actual suspension lift kit) I've read up on makes you pick which type a-arm you have, but when you look at the part #s they're the same. So as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter which one you have. The aluminum is of course lighter, but it won't be light enough to know the difference since it's a full size truck.

The aluminum arms are a lot lighter than steel, I found this out when I replaced mine. They weigh almost nothing. I can't see it making much of a real world difference though.

the pattern is cc short box (5.5") get aluminum control arms and all double cab and cc reg box (6.5") get steel ones...Z71 does not matter it can be either 4x4 or z71

Well if the pattern is CCSB then I got screwed cause I have the Crew cab short box and mine are steel.

Are the aluminum control arms natural silver or painted black? My 2015 4wd High Country crew cab short box (ie not Z71) has black control arms. I assumed this meant they were steel, but now I need to check them out with a magnet to make sure.
