K & N Cold Air install

Recommended Posts

Cool thing is K&N makes it for both the 5.3 and the 6.2 with an included adapter. When I traded in my 14 5.3 for my 15 6.2 the whole intake swapped right over. Definitely a bigger sound change in the 5.3..

Well that's any intake kit or the Airaid MIT tube because externally wise they're the same size and same spot. The 6.2 just has a bigger throttle body. Internally the 6.2 has a bigger bore, but the outside they look the same other than the TB.

I failed to see where anyone on here stated that they specifically installed a CAI to increase gas mileage, but rather some made claims that they noticed an increase after an install. On my 2008 Sierra I installed a Volant CAI and had roughly a 1mpg decrease. I went into my install expecting a slight decrease again on my 2015, but to my surprise I had a slight increase.

No messy oil coatings on my MAFS, I specifically bought the K&N Blackhawk CAI because it uses an oilless filter. I don't stand on a soap box and pretend to be a self proclaimed gear head so I can not atest the larger pores = more crap debate.

Well from what I've read, the bad thing about an dry synthetic filter doesn't filter as well since they want you to gain performance. I had a K&N intake kit on my '98 and decided to just go with the Airaid MIT tube only on the '14 and I'll just keep buying the AC Delco filters. I saw that the AC Delco filter with the Airaid MIT actually flows better than intake kits.

How is the sound, performance and mileage affected with the AC/Delco, MIT combination in your opinion?

So the next thing I will be doing to my truck is an intake... Reading this thread has me wondering.. Should I put the CAI or just an Airaid?

So something like this will be just as beneficial as an entire intake unit? I want the sound and throttle response..

Just get the airaid mit the gains are just as good as a full cai

Have you heard that when you increase the air flow the ECM will increase gas into the piston to keep the mixture correct thus decreasing MPG?

mine also lost mileage!Only thing I noticed was it made it too loud but no power gains,Removed it and went back stock.

How is the intake sound? Is it improved over the stock one?

I just bought the blackhawk for my 2014. . . Do you really have to disconnect that battery?

Also did you have ANY strange running issues with your truck after the install?

I installed an air in take on my 2011 camaro and it caused nothing but issues - I went back to stock real quick..

My 63 series came today, I haven't put it on yet, but I glanced through the instructions and saw they recommended disconnecting the battery basically so the computer would be reset or something along those lines.

I won't have time to install it until next weekend. I will post back how it goes. FYI I have the 4.3, next truck will have the 6.2 The 4.3 is ok but, I miss having a V8

6.2 sounds like a BIG air horn at WOT with the Cold Air Inductions CAI. I like it a LOT but I can see were it would not appeal to a large percentage of drivers. On the gas mileage going way down, well check out this pic and just imagine how good it was before I ruined it with this CAI......(HAHA yes that was a joke my gas mileage went up 2 to 3 mpg)

Drop-In Filter Flow Test:

If you're worried about getting oil on your MAF, simply pack your new or newly re-oiled filter in some paper from your shredder over night and the paper shreds will wick away any excess oil that might cause trouble.

Great day Darryl, you get better mileage than I do and I have the 4.3!!! Was that all downhill? Ha ha ha. I noticed average speed was 58 so obviously on the highway and taking it easy, but still.

Who makes that CAI? I zoomed in on the picture but couldn't make out the name. I like it !!
